Well the topic says it all... I have a normal "high performance" car battery in and also have a cap, but it just isn't keeping up with the power from the system, and once again its about dead... My question is, would say a Stinger "car audio" batter help? Ebay has one here but im not too sure if it will solve the problem... help please! Thanks!

uhh, this is not normal at all.
need a new alternator, or a better capacitor for the stereo.
if the battery is "dead" again, maybe you are missing some corosion, or it isn't housing charge right, but it is not due to the stereo in that case.

ah yea... im not the best at finding problems, but basically it isnt charging right... it fires up after a slight delay, but even after 30 min of running just over idle, it still does not hold the charge confused.gif not too sure if i should take it up to discount auto parts and see whats up or not... any more suggestions?

Check the acids in your battery, and go to advance or autozone or wherever and have them check the alternator.

Also check your alternator fuse/relay.

ah, there's your problem
with a big system running at idle speeds it not enough to recharge the battery as fast as it is losing charge to the system.

I'm guessing when you say 30mins you mean 30mins running but playing music...

Anyways, if this is the case, a new alternator MAY be in place, but at the same time...idle isn't meant to run all the appliances sometimes so i doubt it's made to run w/e + a big stereo.

i meant 30 min as in running in my garage at about 1500 rpm without radio running... I've just disconnected my cap (which i should have done long ago) and it no longer takes power from the battery... i guess ill try taking a long drive tomorrow up to autozone and maybe even the battery will get a chance to charge... on the other note, I think an optima would be a must (btw... its hard to explain but my cap seemed to stay on before even when locked, because it sensed a constant change in power) Just what I see though, any more help would be great! thanks for everybodys input ( as i dont know nearly enough to find this solution by myself)

the Yellow Top Optima batter is prefered because it should be used in vehicles with computers, extra radios, electronic components, lights, etc. Other batteries is not able to handle this. TThe Yellow Top will guard against deep cycling damage that can occur over long periods of time. If you turn it 180 degrees the battery acid would not leak. They are pricey but well worth it.

I have had the same old $30 batt that the people who owned the car put in it just before I bought it, with my system bumping it still pushes 14 volts to my amp (per my amp vult guage) and wile the headlights dim pretty bad on the big thumps its still working good.

but I hear that yellow top is the best for big sterios systems, and the red is for more preformance based motors or something.... non the less optima is the band you want.

Yup

I have a 1000 watt Amp. Never ever had probs with dimming lights. But never checked it with the normal battery because i installed my Yellow before the ICE.

Anyways when you hook up your Yellow Top it will "turbo" the starter engine. Very funny smile.gif
