I have been looking at some xbox mods and I think I want to get a bigger hard drive for my xbox. I just want it to run faster not to cheat or anything. Does anybody on here mod their xbox? If so, what do you have? Also, does anybody know about any good halo 2 online sites that have all the jump spots and stuff, I wanna try em out BUT IM NOT A CHEATER!:D

Cheater. It won't run any faster with a larger hard drive (unless you have 300,000 saved games). Where are you noticing a performance issue?

If you 'store' games on your Xbox HDD they will definately load faster.

Ive had my XBOX moded for years. Hard drive loading is much faster than CD loading.

Yeah, loading KOTOR maps, for example, is agony. MS did a bad job exploiting virtual memory.

I'm guessing you need to further mod the box to play games off disk.

what mod chips do you guys recomend? ive been wanting to mod mine up to be a media center for a whle now

just get a xecuter 2.6, its cheap its easy, and it does what you need. A lot of the other mod chips give you things you really dont need, and I find that the xecuter chips are great for all levels of use. I've modded 6 or 7 consoles now

i have 2 xboxs.. ones modded (chip) and the other is normal for online

use the xecuter chip (find the newest model always fixing bugs with new models) and u can burn ur games on to ur hard drive with the chip, also changer the backgrounds and dashboards etc. some of the chips have the on/off switches which are good but my friends was still detected trying to go online.. so its up to u.. also if u go any more than 20gb for the harddrive u need a bigger cooling fan, it will buzz so much to annoy u but its worth it in the long run.

I got a WD250GB in mine....not too loud at all. If you really listen for it sure you can hear it but its not that bad. Not enough to make me want top put another fan in there.

All I really want to do is make the games run a little faster, I mostly play HALO online and I know that doesnt do anything in making me move faster I just want things to load a little bit better.

you are pretty much out of luck then. you cant run an modified xbox while playing online.

It's not your Xbox loading the map slowly, it's the poorly designed and overworked XBLive servers finding and connecting you to a game. That is the one and only reason I don't play Halo online. They tried to make it easy and in the end only made it slow.
