cool, im a sucker for old school rat rod style... and flat black is deff that

but i caution you. dont leave it in primer too long, the reason primer is primer is b/c it adhears well to paint. why? b/c it absorbes moisture. the paint on your car will look satin when wet but youll begin to see oil spots stuff once the car gets dirty a few times. the real reason it isnt safe is b/c too long and the primer will cause the car to rust since it holds moisture against the paint

Were painting a few cars satin ourselves, but using semigloss enamel so it doesnt absorb moisture

....ya that was like a parental speech, srry
looks great~Jon

I really like the way the car looks. I think you should put a black emblem on the front too...i must say, i think the turns look amazing, i love the way the bumper looks like its eating the turns. (if that makes sense)

the paint was in such good shape! My car should be flat black rattle-canned, my paint sucks lol. Plus I'm a sucker for deep shiney non-flaked blacks

This is just temporary. I don't think I can justify a 2000+ paint job on my car since the value of it is probably only 2 or 3k due to high mileage, if I'm lucky.

I'm probably going to find a place that will do the base and clearcoat for under 1k if I do all the prep work.

The reason I did this was to paint over the bondo that I used to cover up the antenna hole and to make the whole car one color. Sure the paint was nice before... but it was a free paintjob with a lot of flaws, that was just a really nice pic using a 8mp camera.

Till I get a real paint job... The Batmobile will live for a month or so. I'll post pics when it's done, it's going to be sexy.

Bad assssss. Thats all i can say dude. Shiney paint is for sissys. wink.gif

Thats the kit combination I wanted to go for when I was interested in having a kit a few years ago. Looks pretty sick now that I've actually seen it done.

Haha, I was going to spray the wheels too, but removing the wheels and stuff and prepping it for paint is such a bitch. I think really dark gunmetal will look cool. I'm getting sick of the gold.

I like it. I have a hotwheels 6th gen on my desk that I painted flat black because it had a really nice flat blue but with some gay ricer cop symbols all over it. After I painted it I told myself if I ever get around to putting a GT4 front end and stock hood (I love the gt4 stock hood so much - kinda don't like the bumper as much as mine though) on my car I would paint it flat black - professionally though.
Good work - my 4th gen looked horrible when I did the same to it. You could see all the lines in it from using spray cans though LOL.

I think Bigfoot is blurry, that's the problem. It's not the photographer's fault. Bigfoot is blurry. And that's extra scary to me, because there's a large, out-of-focus monster roaming the countryside.

Yeah that looks like her. I had different stock rims and mine was GTS with the lip spoiler, black and I bought it swapped with a 1st gen 3s-gte in it. I later blew that and got a 2nd gen 3s-gte and Turbo - blew that twice and finally had to give her up. I loved that car. I tore it down to the bones and repaired or replaced almost everything on it and she ran like mad. Everything felt brand new on her but she was just a money pit. I' spent like $8k in two years on it.

Chan, I really like your Celica. I think it looks great in flat black. If you want a satin sort of finish, John Deere Blitz Black paint works well, and it's around $26 a gallon I think. It's held up very well on my bro's Celica and was shot through a HVLP eBay special gun (like $30 shipped laugh.gif) but still came out pretty well I think. Anyway, great work...what color do you plan to paint it if you can get it shot with a base coat/clear coat? Black again?
