Im not really sure where to post this, but i think it may be in the engine/transmission... but when we bought the 99 GT Convertible one the gas pedal on it is very stiff. I dont have this problem with my 94 st...and didnt know if this was just a GT problem or what. The gas pedal is almost stuck unless you push it really hard, which makes it almost impossible to idle at low RPMs (which we use for all the uphill driving around austin)... Is this something i can fix? I hope the explanation is clear enough.

Thanks in advance, Josh.

wd-40 is your friend.

just spray some on the hinge point, when the car is off, pump it a bit to work it in, let the car sit for a bit (10-15 minutes) start it up, and see if it changes nething.

(that would be the easy fix)

it could be a pinched throttle cable, check the cable as it runs from the engine and into the car and inside the car.

My guess is its gotta be a problem with the throttle cable. Make sure all cable is clean and not getting obstructed. Dont confuse it with the cruise control wire.

I had the same problem and I just greased the hinges.

I had a similar problem. My problem was on the throttle body end of the cable, the part that the cable pulls was hardly lubricated, I just sprayed some wd 40 on it and everything was fine.

Had a similar problem with mine. I would check the throttle body first.

The problem behind my throttle sticking was an uncovered/unfiltered hole in the bottom of my stock air box. It got the throttle body hinges kinda gummed up and a dealer charged like $10 to clean it out for me. When I installed the Ingen intake, I added a breather filter to keep this from happening again.

Easy enough to unhook the throttle cable at both ends, should slide back and forth in the housing very easily, sometimes the cable starts fraying and the strands catch in the cable housing, you can also work the throttle body and the gas pedal by hand with the cable unhooked to isolate trouble.

I had the same problem. For me there was a little rubber piece stuck on the throttle cable.

That's how I fixed mine too.

I had a similar problem. Turns out that the intake valve in my throttle body was all gummed up. I just sprayed some carburetor cleaner in there and wiped out the gook, since then everything's fine.

not to jack this but i had a scary moment where i was driving down my block, and i went to brake but the car was still revving high, i park it and its revving higher and im not pressing the gas. i open the hood and fiddle with the throttle cable and it went down to normal.
