well, as my car search continues, I've been looking for a car over the past year or so now, I went from everything from an Evo to a 350z and everything in between. I've always like how the 240's looked, there dirt cheap, and you can easily put an rb20 in them. Does anyone have a swapped 240? Is it a fun car to drive? I see people selling there swapped 240 for about $7k, with a 'stock swap' any idea what numbers it can put down? Like about how much HP, quarter mile times (with an average driver) ect. I know these are pretty newb questions, and yes I could find them by search google (which im doing now) but I figured i'd get some input from people who have em, drove em, or have friends that have them. any who, let me know.

i just want a car that is capable of producing 300 RWHP or more fairly easily, turbo charged and rwd. I like my celi, it just doesnt satisfy my speed needs. Maybe theres a better car to look at? Oh and I dont really wanna spend more than $15k total. I know I could get an EVO and be happy, but i dont have 30k to throw at a car atm.

if you only want 300rwhp then i wouldn't bother with the rb20 or rb25, just get an s13 redtop SR20, should be good enough for that goal. But if you wanted to move up, then get the s13 black top or an s14 sr20. Cuase if you just want 300rwhp an SR20 can definatly give you that. The only point i see in getting an RB motor is if you had really high HP goals like in the 800hp area, but since your not going for that much HP, there's not point to have the extra weight of the engine. You could also just turbo the KA24, it gives you bigger displacement for more torque, and is also more than capable of 300rwhp, But make sure to get the KA24DE (the dual overhead cam), becuase the KA24E (single overhead cam) kinda sucks i heard. But thats just what i heard, im not a 240guy myself, but my friend has an S13 and is in the middle of swapping in a Blacktop S13 Sr20. Goodluck with whatever you get though =).

i was talking to a 240 owner here with an RB25 swap a while back. he had to do many things in order to get it running.. custom mounts, firewall was shifted back, custom axles (of course), and a whole bunch of other stuff i can't even remember. SR20's are more popular but are far easier to swap.. but with $$$, then what's stopping you?

hmm, from what i've been reading the best would be the rb26dett, but it costs money, but comes with 280 hp. What I want is just something capable of beating corvettes lol. Im not really a drifter although it looks like it would be fun 2 do, but i think its retarded 2 watch. And im getting confused with the s13,s14,s15 sr20 this sr20 that, lol. I want something fast, for under $8000.

My best advice is if you really want to get a 240 join the forum and ask around. Be careful not to ask dumb questions as 240 people can be very cruel to noobs. |

when i think of 240sx's, i think of garbage. only bc the people around me praise them, and get 400 dollar ones, and then do nothing with them, bc they are poor.
people like that ruin them. personally, when they are done right, i love them very very much. i'm with whoever likes the s15 front on the s13 hatch. mmmm. -------------------- |

![]() see sig... 95' S14 OBD1, 97 front end, SR20 blacktop, full S15 T28bb setup, & too much $ invested their not cheap I've done it on a budget and i have a ton invested. I've even been playing around with the idea of selling it. as much as I love the car, everything has its price ...but Ive had my car for 4 years, n' im not fond of the publicity driftings getting If you wanna start a project you really need to ask yourself what your building it for. -Drag, AutoX, Hillclimb, Road race, Drift, Daily, Sleeper my cars built for drift, but I autoX and Im moving towards hillcimb next season. I chose SR b/c the car maintains its 50/50 balence, Ive cornerweighed my car to a 50.2 cross weight. weighing in at 2650lbs. with an RB series motor you'll never obtain that easily. My cars being dynotuned as we speak and similar setups pushout ~270hp. so I'll know exatcly what she has shortly. and this is SR power, My friend has a S13 coupe with an RB20 and I must say I am a fan of the power and touque the RB20 has, esp b/c it revs higher than the RB25. from my experience RB26s break too often, and KA24s blow headgaskets like its their job. IMO unless you build the KA i wouldnt run more than 5lbs of boost thru it. the SR is great but lacks touque like crazy, I had to relearn my driving style going from a KA for 3 years to an SR this year. the CA is another option, Its bacically a four cilinder RB25, great motor. reliable and capable of plenty of power. so do some research n check them out, great cars, fun to drive, but as allways very expensive ~Jon -------------------- ![]() ...Yea, I own a Nissan |

i just want to basically go in a straight line, more or less for road racing. I want something fun, fast, and to be used as a daily driver. If I could get 300 to 400 out of the sr20 I guess that would be alright. Right now with a swap im figuring it will cost about $4k for the car and $4k for the swap, are my figures about right? Im just a kid wantin 2 have fun without 2 much stuff breaking. I looked into DSM's but we all know there like the black plaque of the car world.

What kind of 240 are you looking to get? Sorry i didnt read anywhere what year you were looking to get. An s13 (1989-1990SOHC, 1991-1993 DOHC) could cost you anywhere from $500-$3500, And an s14 (1994-1998?) prolly around $4000-$10,000. I've seen the price vary a lot just depending on condition and who you buy it from. My friend has been picking s13s up for $600-$800 if you know where to look. They were all the DOHC models too. So your price isn't too far off, but i might up the cost of the swap to about $5000 just incase.

I like the s14's (1998 model) i just like the rounded look better. So if I did the sr20 swap, how much extra would it cost me to get the engine up in the 350 hp range?
