alright someone clerify this for me. if for exaple something is stage 2, is it better than the same thing at stage 1? like clutches. what would the difference be between a stage 1 clutch and stage 2 clutch? or the same with turbos. are there stages for those too and what are the differences? THANX

Its a term used by parts manufactures to represent different levels within THEIR OWN line. "Stages" have no uniform meaning across manufacture lines. For example, a Clutchmasters Stage 3 clutch is similar to a Spec Stage 2 in terms of torque holding capacity, design components, etc.

i know your trying to do the right thing for your motor, but this is one of those times where you should just trust the guys who have had their swaps for a while and have done a ton of research into this.

A higher stage clutch "should" hold more power etc than a lower stage one, but a higher stage clutch will catch a lot quicker and "harsh" compared to a lower stage. Most people only go up to a stage 3 in a street car, otherwise it is difficult to drive daily.

ie/

most 3s swaps use a 2nd or 3rd stage clutch.

I have a spec stage 2 etc.

but its like Jay said, each company has a different standard for their "stages"
