so its cold up here and i want to warm the car but not stay inside it as its cold.

Got 94 auto with viper alarm but no remote start.

Is there a way to just take out the key while car is running (i tried this in Park and Neutral positions and key wouldn't come out)
I also tried locking the doors but that doesn't work either when car is running.

So whats easier, a way to take out the key if there is a way or to just get remote start installed?

Since you have an auto, take advantage of a remote start. I wouldn't want to F with the ignition. If something goes wrong, you'll have problems

get an extra key made. leave the key in the ignition, and manually lock your door with your other key from the outside.

I've done that in my other car, never had anyone break into my car, and I used to live in SoCal so ...chance of someone doing it is minimal...

either way, get a remote start... viper has addons i believe

i know, but it's the only possibility i can think of w/o modifying your ignition cylinder or getting a remote starter (as mentioned in the first post)..
it also depends where you park your car too, my driveway goes all the way into the yard so it's more safe, so i'm not concerned about breakins.

id start the celica, set the turbo timer for the max time, 10 mins on the apexi.
and do what i needed to do. if someone puts the e-brake down the car shuts off. so a cheap ebay turbo timer could do what you want it to do. since you take the key out im sure you could lock the doors too. i think.

get a remote start.. its definitely worth it... you won't want to go outside... start your car... set the timer and then go back inside...just to come back outside in ten minutes

well see..with my remote start i can also keep the car running n take the key out. i duno how it works technically, but all i have to do is press the two main buttons (lock and unlock) for 3 seconds while the key is in the ignition. after the three seconds, the windows roll up and the doors unlock and you are to pull the key out of the ignition while the car is running. if someone were to break in the car they wouldnt be able to steal it (that easily) because when you put your foot on the brake without the key in the ignition in the ON position the car shuts off and the killswitch engages.

it came with the car. pretty cool, i use it often when picking up stuff or droppin stuff off somewhere.

Haha, funny thing is that before i got my 6g, i had a Saturn, and the removal of the key while ignition ON was possible...and it wasn't a normal thing, it was actually a defect in the ignition itself =P haha i scared soo many ppl ****less while driving, i'd just go POOP and throw the key around and ppl would freak out thinking i turned the car off while the car was still moving hahaha...anyhoo..

another alternative is get one of the newer models of the compustar alarm 2 way kits...has turbo timer too, so it'll come in handy for all you ppl who have 3s-gte or 5s-fte's in ur car, and it has a crap load of features and one of them is where you can set your car where if u leave ur key in the car, u just tap the car a certain way or rhythm or w/e u set it as, and it'll unlock. This way, you leave the key in the car and keep it on and then lock the car. I got this alarm, paid 300 shipped on ebay...i haven't installed it yet, but its a lot of wiring, but its a great item to buy and has 5000ft range, this alarm also has remote start to so yeah...but check out compustar 2 way alarm kits, they got a great deal of neat features.
