Sorry if the answer is somewhere but after some searching I was unable to find the answers.

I drive a 99 celica gt

I recently ordered a set of kyb gr-2 struts/shock from ebay. As I was in the process of installing it I realized the front strut/shock look noting like it.

My rear parts I got were a exact match. My front look like the back but with differant hole alignments to bolt on with.

My front strut/shock box says they are cartridges.

As I am still new with cars I was wondering what they front were ? I read about a optional sport pakage and was wanting to know how you would tell if you had that pakage on your car. Also did i get the wrong part or can the shock be removed...? It looks like its welded on like that back(Is this a sealed strut?)

Anyways i hope you get the jest of what im talking about and would appreciate any help you could offer.

Best picture I could find. I recieved all 4 products standing up in the picture but my front to me look like the 2 on the left but with differant bolt patterns.

They probably ended up shipping, the front sealed struts. Look at the part number on the box. If it says 334378 and 334379 than you ended up getting the sealed struts for the fronts.

Heres some links that should help:

http://www.6gc.net/forums/index.php?showto...truts&st=20

Check to see if your struts are rebuildable or sealed! and then compare the product code with the code you should have recieved as per the ebay item

Then compare with the product code you require here: http://www.kyb.com/catalog/2008_passenger_car.pdf

Hope that helps!

When you get them installed can you PM me. When I next get some money I was going to purchase from the same shocks from the same ebay seller! I'd love to hear your verdict on the quality of the product, and ride difference it made, and if your using the OEM springs.

Cheers

I feel like a idiot me and my friends took the right front off but didnt look to see if you could replace the insert.
We thought you had to replace the whole assembly.

If you have a sealed strut does that mean you wont be able to replace the cartridge and you would need to buy the whole assembly again?

The sealed struts are the one piece whole assembly strut. There is no need in changing cartridges because they are sealed togther in one piece. Thats how the factory sport suspension GT's came with in the earlier 94-95 years. From 96-99 all the celicas came with sealed struts up front.

Call your local dealer. Give them your vin and see if you have the sport suspension or not. Since you have a 99, you should have sealed front struts. But by the looks of the pic, I don't even know. Any way, if you ended up getting the sealed fronts, just put them bad boys on. Less work to be honest. You take the old ones out and put the new ones on.
