So my girlfriend is getting her grandpa's 85 celica supra. I didnt belive her when she said it, but sure enough all the badges say celica supra, even though the back says SUPRA

I am so lost... i am going to google this right now lol

I am going to check tomorrow to see if it is turbo'd or RWD or not lol

I might have to steal all her badges cause they are sick!!!!

the supra was the high performance model of the celic. in the mid 80s is when it became it's own car. most people say that the supra is the celicas big bro. in all reality it's the other way around. the celica is just a little handicapped so the supra needs to be boss laugh.gif

yup... the celica and supra were originally one car.... the toyota celica supra. kinda like if a toyota celica gt-four were to split up and become a toyota celica and a toyota gt-four. but yeah... its rwd, not sure if her's is turbo'd or not.

Assuming that it is a 1985 and that it's the american market model:

1985-1986 2.8 L (2759 cc) 5M-GE I6 161 hp (120 kW) 169 ft·lbf (229 N·m) 5-speed W58 manual or 4-Speed A43DE automatic

So no 7MGTE goodness or the like unfortunately

If the supra and celica are brothers I think mama slept around. The Celica spawned the Supra,
making the celi a parent. So the next time you pull up beside a supra at a stop light ask the driver,
"who's your daddy"?

It's like the movie twins: Arnold is the Supra while Devito is the Celica.

Toyota likes to name cars like that when they know they'll branch them off, like the Camry Solara.

.....no

There was no Celica Supra in 1970. There was only Celica. The Celica Supra wasn't introduced until 1979.

Any chance I can get my hands on a '84-86 P-Type Celica Supra? Been looking for one locally for the longest.

haha i can talk to him but he collects this stuff.. hes got a museam in mis back yard with a mere 3 million just in the material for the building, a drive in movietheatre inside a working gas station and a full size diner... idk how many cars, but deff over 300 classic colecter cars all fully restored, most with #s matching....
i guess when u own 3 toyota dealerships, a mazdaa ford and lincon a yamaha and several condo complexs and hotels in other countries you can buy stuff like that..
i wish i was in dat will!
but ive know them fr 15+ years and they have me and my dad out to the house alot so i am around the cars all the time... can u say a 93 supra with about 19 miles not just on the engine but the chassy too..... candy red. about 1400 hp. nitros and the full 9 yards... ya garaged its whole life....
never drives it just looks at it....

im gunna talk to him about his 70 something celica here pretty soon and ill ask him about one a dem too... i have pics of the museam i just got to put em up on photobucket....
what the hell is a p- type?

Do that. And see if he wants to let a bunch of broke asses come drool on his Toyota's for a while - tell him He still owes me for placing me in Best Import catagory at his car show two years ago [NVM I got 1st place] laugh.gif . Oh and a P-Type is the performance version we got - not much to it but still better than the L-Type for what I want.

Nice one Griffy biggrin.gif
