I can totally see where you're coming from with the assimilation of Dark Knight to The Crow. I think it's the use of color throughout the movie. Both of them are literally dark as well as "dark themed". Lots of cool blues balanced by neutral greys and tans and browns in both movies. Use of color in movies can be very focal (The Sixth Sense is a GREAT example of this) and in both of those movies, the color was used to evoke a mood as well as to further denote the general sense of darkness/good vs. evil; the "when is good evil and when is evil good" paradox throughout the movie.

Totally agree - that was one of the things I noticed right off but forgot to post.
Also the scene with the Joker laughing as he's being beaten was very similar to a scene in The Crow just purely by his facial expressions.

QUOTE (Athorn @ Aug 4, 2008 - 3:18 PM) *
That was my idea!!lol.. I have also been a comic fan for years and agree with you after reading alot of older comics it seems todays are just "pretty pictures". I am hoping for riddler in the next one. If they make him go along the same creepy and dark road the the joker and even the scarecrow was the it should be awsome.

I too could see that character being done right. For god's sakes tho - stay away from Mr Freeze LOL.
I'm sure all the Batman fans will soon be clamboring for the Bane character altho I thought he was the product of a very comercial era for comics - maybe a re-think but keep the whole addicted to drugs/enhancers w/e they were theme. IDK.

I still can't seem to like homeboy's Batman. He fits the part but as I said before he's not acting - he "acts" this way in every movie [Yes American Psycho too. Especially Equilibrium - I kept waiting for him to show some emotion after he stopped taking the serum but he still seemed bland and lifeless]. I think the guy must really have no personality and his lisp is very unbecoming of the Dark Knight and just rather unmanly in general. he does a better job than all who've come before him so thank god for that.

So noone noticed the Joker/Joker simularities besides me? Maybe they're just in my head?

No, I think now that you point it out, I can see the similarities you're referring to, especially the lip-smacking/tweaker-mouth affectation. Nicholson was a great Joker, but I have to concur with Supersprynt that Heath Ledger blew it out of the water. I can't think of any actor who could top that performance. I know the role messed with his head, but man, what a note to end on.

Yes i can see the similarities in the two. Jack played a more "happy" joker while heth played the darker more insane joker. I had not noticed the lip smacking think untill you said that. OMG if the have the balls to put mr. freeze it it hats off to them but i will give up batman forever lol

The Dark Knight

1. Awesome film
2. Could have knocked out 45minutes of the end out, and left out the part with the Joker visiting Harvey in the hospital (and use that for the beginning of the next installment, just like they started this one with the end of The Beginning with Scarecrow getting locked up)
3. When BATMAN talks "Gee Mr. Batman, would you like a drink of water? Your throat sounds dry as funk!", seemed a bit much. The voice I guess was an attempt to be like the cartoons, as all the batman characters sort of did, but WOW.... This one make me actually finish all my Large Soda which I never do in a movie.

The only things I have to say about it. I can see why this film has been dominating though, and no one can deny it once you have seen the film with an open mind and it's full view.

Been waiting to open this thread since it was started, but never did b/c I prefer unbiased opinion before going into the theater...Finally saw it tonight, and it was very very well done! Originally I had thought that Heath's role as The Joker wouldn't be as good as Jack's was, but after seeing the movie I think he was much better at it. If given another chance I'd definately go see this movie again. I agree it's not the best movies of all time, but definately one of the best all year so far.

spoiler: I agree with the fact they could have cut out some of Two Face's time in this one and left it more open for the next one. We all know that they will still use him as one of the main characters in the next movie though (whenever that comes out).

spoiler:
yes, I did see the movie. But like as said above, it's not unlikely that those characters survive somehow and come back for a sequal.

If you saw the script it says he's dead. The way they set it up, there's no reason for him to come back. There might be a lot more to the story, but this is the movies. Look at the scarecrow, there's a lot more to him and he was in TDK for 2 seconds. Having him come back would ruin the whole point of TDK.

I'm not saying that they will for sure bring him back for the next one or some Batman movie in the future (who knows how many more they are going to make lol)..Just that most of the focus of this one was on The Joker as far as villans go, so it wouldn't surprise me that they would bring Two Face back at some point in the future just as a little surprise to the audience. IMO, he's one of the main villan characters in the series and so they should give him some more screen time.

I can see where your coming from, but I would be VERY surprised if Nolan brought him back to life, and disappointed. There are plenty more villains for movies, Johnny Depp is already being rumored as an idea for the riddler.

Been hearing that all day - not sure how I feel about that one as big of a star as he is and his association with Tim Burton type movies. I really dig him as an actor tho and he seems like a really cool guy in interviews.

Confused would be the word for understanding less than 1/2 the movie.
...

AT LAST! I have seen this movie with local language subtitles smile.gif. Agree... Many things are clear now wink.gif. However... I remember I was more impressed after Batman begins... That doesn't mean I do not like Dark night! Maybe I just wanted to see bit more according to "bank scene" teaser wink.gif
