Are 96-98 ecus the same for a 97 celica gt?? Switched ecus for a 96 ecu that I bought from the junk yard. The car turned on with the 96 ecu but later starting boggin on idle... then it died. Could it be the ecu or a bad sensor?? It threw check engine light for the ignitor on both ecus..

MAP sensor.
make sure it's plugged in properly, make sure the vac tube to it is secure and going to the intake manifold. If those are ok then swap the MAP with another. I have a spare if you want it. -------------------- |
