what about controlers? i know they're BT and wireless, but what if they die? Can i plug in a cable and play with it anyway, or will i have to wait for the controler to recharge before i can resume my game?

They come with a mini-USB port. You can play with them while they are plugged in & charging.

I'm not sure which ones the new PS3s come with, but when I bought mine it was Pre-Dualshock 3, so I only had a SixAxis. So then I bought a DS3 and I leave one plugged in and ready to go and then when one dies, I just swap them.

What do you mean the deal is getting worse? Don't get that.

The main reason I've alway been a PS fan is for the backwards compatibility. I still play games from when I was a kid and having to keep up with 5 different consoles is just not my bag. Plus I've been through 3 PS2's and my latest one is showing the signs too. I was hoping this new console would still allow me to play my old titles and yet let my kids play the new stuff they want.
Incidentally my old 1st year PS1 still works like a champ atop it's shrine of dead PS2's kindasad.gif

Has vibration (and motion).

I guess Sony decided that the decreased cost outweighs the desire for backwards compatibility. My PS & PS2 both work fine, never had any issues.

Which PS2 did you have? The older bigger ones were much more durable in my experience. My first one lasted a few years whereas I've averaged one every 1 to 1 1/2 years since with the slim ones kindasad.gif
They also get alot of use - I have two sons who never stop playing games.

Yeah mines one of the big original ones. The only thing that's shown signs of wear is the door opening & closing isn't as smooth.

Yeah they took it out thinking people weren't really into it, and then there was backlash so they got the DS3 out asap. I prefer the DS3.

If you need a HDMI wire I have an extra new never used.

I must say I think my best purchase umm I think ever has been the PS3 I love the blu ray I love the games..I just love it. I have yet to even think about wanting to play any ps1 or ps2 game. We now have two in the house since I hyped it up so much smile.gif..I love that the online is free and I love to check out and downloading new themes..I think I'm just in love smile.gif

o0o assassins creed has been my favorite game so far...I really enjoyed GTA4 but once I beat it I never really got into the online games...warhawk is ok..its fun to pass time but it get annoying bc I can't live past like 5 mins. I just beat tomb raider..I really enjoyed the game I wish it was longer but thats bc I enjoyed playing it. I tried the demo for Drakes and it seemed fun..kinda reminded me of tomb raider just with a looooottt more shooting..For me I enjoy shooting but I like the adventure behind it so I think from what I have read online and by the demo I feel like Tomb Raider was def more my style and since I beat that Its time to get Uncharted and see what I think. umm I hated Burnout I played it once and never looked at it since..Its time for me to look into more games...and of course rock Band is awesome.

speaking of uncharted.... http://www.gametrailers.com/player/43231.html
definitely can't wait. hey shannon, i suggest you check out uncharted. there's more to it than shooting bad guys. there's also some puzzle solving, rock climbing and tomb raiding type stuff. and and a pretty kick-ass adventure story. i think you'd enjoy it if you're into tomb raider.

YESSSSSSSSSSSSS! I knew they were going to make a second one, but I haven't heard anything. That's so awesome. Now that knife - it looks like the knife from that movie with Ghengis Khan... the Shadow! Is that not the knife whose handle comes alive and bites him?!

I've been trying to get Shannon to buy Uncharted for awhile. She's only played the demo.

Check this out:

Uncharted 2:

The Shadow movie:

I started to think that maybe there was a tie to Ghengis Khan with that knife being in the movie with him, but supposedly the new game has to do with Marco Polo.

QUOTE
But wait, there's more! Game Informer's January issue will also feature Uncharted 2 -- and they're calling it: Uncharted 2: Among Thieves. According to GI, the sequel will involve the 13th century explorer Marco Polo and his voyages. New mechanics in the sequel include a free climbing mechanic and stealth gameplay. Check out the cover, also after the break.

THanks for answering the questions. I don't think I want one now unless I can find one that is BC. Because I am going to end up buying another PS2 (this one starting to wear down) just so I can play the older games before I jump into PS3 now....... Argh! For all the money Sony supposedly lost building this thing and still not perfect!

As sony create firmware updates that you have to download to the HDD then alot of games then also need you to download this and that update to allow them to use the new firmware. This all takes up space on your HDD. e.g. i got 2.53 firmware update yesterday, then warhawk had a 66Mb update, and GTA4 had a 45Mb update.

You also have free demo downloads from the store, (Metal Gear Solid 4 Demo is like 1.5Gb, so it soon mounts up!)

Also downloadable content, Call of Duty 4 had 4 new maps early in the year, which you buy from the store and then download and save to the HDD for use during the game. (These are now included in the Game of the Year edition)

Things all mount up though, I've got a 60gb one and I always hover around having about 7Gb of free space on it. AFAIK the 60Gb is the ONLY one thats backwards compatible (Unless one of the firmware updates added it for the later models)

TBH I've been looking at getting a 320 or 500Gb SATA drive (only £50-£90) to replace the 60Gb one with, then I won't have to worry about space.

http://news.softpedia.com/news/80GB-PS3-Ba...one-65065.shtml

So the 60gb had the ps2 hardware in it, yet the 80gb gets software emulation, so the 80gb will play some titles but not all titles at the moment, I'm sure they will keep tweaking the software til it works properly cos thats quite a big selling point really.
