It's rediculous. My friends and I buy one book, and make copies of whatever we need. Luckily I worked at Pearson last semester, and it just so happened all my books I needed were made by Prentice Hall. I was able to get all of them for 60% off through my work, yet still ended up paying over $200.

And most of the time when you return them at the school store for cash, they either say they dont accept it anymore due to a new edition coming out, or they will give you about 1/8 of what you paid.

You're paying (tens of) thousands of dollars for a piece of paper that says you graduated. Is that any more of a bargain? So these $100-200 dollar books look cheap in comparison.

Id also love to know how they justify raising the price of the book I wanted to buy by 12$ from one day to the next, for no reason at all.

that blows kindasad.gif

maybe it was on sale, then went back to original price lol

Umm...an education? Not really, you're going to college to be able to get a good job. But you can't get that job unless you graduate with the degree. So even if you complete 99% of your education, without that final piece of paper, all that "education" isn't worth jack in the real world. But if you somehow to actually learn anything from college (and retain it), kudos to you. I view my time in college as a huge waste.

All of my books were included in tuition, so I never had to front any money for books/software

Lol, I counted 13 grammatical/spelling/punctuation mistakes in your post (which obviously was a joke tongue.gif).

Can anyone else spot more than 13?

Ive spent upwards of $500 a semester on books before and have learned to never purchase from the bookstore unless you absolutely have to. I do all of my textbook shopping on Amazon, where i got a science textbook normally $140 for roughly $40 this past semester. There are ways around the bookstore, just takes some future planning for shipping etc.

I don't think he was joking...frown.gif

One thing about college, don't bother going if you don't know what you want to do with your life. All of the people who go for 2yrs and major in liberal arts are just wasting their time and money.

*sniffle* I work at a college. Where's the love? frown.gif

PS: I have no part in the setting of book prices, the bookstore does that.

PPS: In the 4 years of post secondary I have done, 3 of those years I was taking 18 credits per semester. The amount of homework I had for the first 3 years was roughly 70-80 hours per week.
