Hey all,
as some of you may know, shannon and jim (supershannon77) have a 3sgte swapped 6gc, that they bought from RJB on the forum.
They started off with a 91 auto GT, that they had a local shop install a "ebay special" turbo kit on. the shop installed the kit, and promptly blew the motor @ 5.5 psi.
shannon then had the shop source and install a 99 5s, and made ~147whp if I remember correctly, with the auto tranny, @ 5.5psi
They then blew said auto tranny. lol
So, IIRC, they sold the 5th gen to a friend, and bought RJBs car.
They have had a few problems with it, including a bad tranny, which Defgeph and I went down and replaced for them.
While i was down there, jims brother joe bought the old 5th gen back, with the blown tranny, and fresh 99 motor in it.
We disscussed diffrent options for it, including a manual tranny swap, but with the car having pre 93 electronics, and no knock sensor system, I convinced them the best thing to do would be to find a nice 6th gen chassis to swap the engine package into.
At that time, we also disscussed power goals, and to me, it seemed like Jim and Shannon were just looking for a streetable, everyday drivable car, with ~225 or so hp, to make the trip a bit more enjoyable wink.gif .
Where Joe, on the other had, is really looking to build a BEAST down the road, 350+whp ect.
Fast forward a few weeks, and browsing the FS section here on the board, I see a nice 95 with a blown motor. http://www.6gc.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=49717&hl=
Bing, Bang, Boom, Jim and Joe are on it, and go put a deposit on the car.
We set everything up, and a few weeks later, Jim, Shannon, and Joe, load the 5th gen INTO the back of a uhaul truck, put the 6th gen on a car hauler attached to the back of said uhaul, and drove them up here.
here are some pics and discriptions of whats gone on since.

They arrive with the cars:

We get the 6th gen off the car carrier:

HOLY CRAP, they really DID stick the 5th gen in the back of the Uhaul!!!!!
IPB Image

this was NOT as easy as it looks:

mmmm yellow nology wires!! LMAO

With that done, the following morning we got right to work, and got the cars up and draining, and prepped to get the bad motor out:

Then we pulled the motor and tranny out of the 6th gen:

good job shannon, good job jim on your first try. That euro lip is what I wanted when I was going to do my gt-four front end, I stepped back and did an ss-III front end instead - less headaches for shipping.

everyone i know who did their own swap always hit SOME bumps along the way. I mean they also caused a day or so delay each, but when only working weekends, it added up.

just impressed how smooth it went, and how you all come together for this...

I had my few bumps along the way.

I started out with a 91 celica gt and turboed it, this is b4 I knew manny and he kept telling me not to over on celicatech.
After the shop put the kit on I have it dynoed and on the way home with the tuner driving the car runs out of oil and the engine is gone it spun a rod bearing. Next I source a 99 engine and have it swapped in since its the newest 5sfte engine thats what I looked for. Metal head gasket better oil pump and it's newer. After I have that installed my trans blew twice..so I sold it to my friend. I picked up the car from rjb the 2nd gen 3sgte and I go to a meet and within mins the tire falls off and I finally get to meet Manny who helps me with Jeff and the rest of the gang...While Helping me Manny and Jeff spot a lot of problems with the blue car that next to be fixed...Meanwhile, Jim's brother has plans of finding a 6gen with a blew engine and taking my old 5sfte engine and swapping it in since my friend was selling my old 91 celica...What joey really wanted was a power house 3s and I really wanted a nice turboed car that was black. Well we made a deal to have both cars done and to swap keys pretty much.

That's how I ended up with this 99 5sfte

After Manny swapped the 5sfte engine in and fixed problems that the original shop I brought it to had made the car has run very smooth and without any problems but the road I took to get the car like this was a long one and a very expensive one.

I spent over 10k at just the shop alone with having the turbo kit put in, then 99 motor and then rebuilding the transmissions.

without the wideband there was no way to tune the low end, which is why it is so rich.
told ya you needed to get that installed and tune that low end.
you'll be suprized how much better gas milage you get too once its tuned,..and the backfiring will go away some too.

I'm just excited for the gas mileage...not that I was even complaining before smile.gif. I really didn't expect the 10.0 10.6 bc of how great it starts and runs. Brent's was a very different 10.0 I guess bc of the map sensor but I really don't know. His car ran great with the my map tho. I'm just glad we finally got the wideband on smile.gif

here is a video celicast_cali made for me.

yup, you'll be happy with the milage once you get it dialed in, i was able to get 350+ miles to a tank cruising with the SAFC, although i was never able to get it 100% right, you still will always have that notchyness when your cruising just off idle, which is prolly 75% of the reason i went to the emanage ultimate.

was that reading with the car cold, or warm?

if it was cold, it will lean out a little more once it comes up to temp and the ecu turns off the start up enrichment.
just have jim make sure the car is warm before he tunes the idle and lo throttle map. wink.gif
keep this updated shannon, this is important stuff that i never got to cover with the SAFC on my setup cause i never had a wideband, i just tuned the low end by feel and sound..lol

Yesterday Stvenson was over and he installed and awesome led panel to my JDM Tails...

JDM tails def change the look of the car..I am really loving my car with the coilovers and the tails.

Now for the bad news....

I woke up this morning to jim saying we have a slight problem..My Neighbor pulled out of her driveway and hit my car.

Its nothing major just a dent on the corner panel..Ill have pics up later tonight.

I will have to talk to Manny to see if I have to tell the place were I will get the estimate anything special with my paint.

My car might have a whole new look soon wink.gif

that sucks shannon.

nothing special about the paint, its just straight black, with ~10% of the total amount of paint course silver metallic.
