I have a 1996 Celica GT 2.2 (manual with power everything). I need a new alternator like right now but no one knows if it is the 70 amp or 80 amp. Anyone know???

Thank you. I was able to get the right part and install the alternator before pepboys closed. I just didn't want to get the wrong one and have to make an exchange and then hope I got lucky installing it during the night. Thanks!

if they both have the same connectors and pulley size, then go for the 80 amp.

if they both have the same connectors and pulley size, then go for the 80 amp. they do. its a nice, cheap upgrade to just buy the 80amp. seems like a no brainer, an extra 10 amps can make a difference when you have the headlights on, heat blowing, and rear defrost on when its a cold winter night. i know the alt in my rolla struggles a little with low/high beams on, rear defrost, heater on full blast, and radio playing. i can hear the idle drop a little but the voltage stays at about 13.8-14.0 the whole time. 10 amp doesnt sound like alot, but thats an extra 120-140watts of power available if and when you need it. -------------------- |

the MT and AT alt mounts and plugs up the same on most vehicles, including our celicas
