Subarus are all pretty pricey on maintenance, some things are comparable to other cars, like timing belts, pulleys, etc. but if you want someone to change your spark plugs or valve cover gaskets you'll pay a pretty penny.

I agree if it were in regards to GM, but my family and a handful of my friends drive Dodge vehicles - both cars and trucks. In my experience they're just as reliable as any other import.

Whether or not cars are traded in is dependant on the owner. Saying that people who buy imports don't trade their cars in is just ignorant.

Good for you! I believe you guys religiously maintain your domestic car/truck and I believe its a big factor of reliability of a vehicle.

Taken into consideration that not all owners takes care of their car. They just drive and go without checking in their car even least a once a month.

Compare an import vehicle to a domestic vehicle that is both poorly maintained. Assuming both vehicles are driven normally, which one would you think would break down first?

My comment wasn't as a personal insult, so don't take it that way (I think its easy to pick out which posts of mine are personal attacks smile.gif ) I do understand that domestic vehicles are a dime a dozen, and demand isn't as high as imports - thus, a low price. Its all about supply and demand.

Yes its all about the demand but look at the vechile history in the US. Before the imports came in the US, domestic cars has the market. When the imports started comming in slowly, people seen the reliability of the imports vs the domestics so the demand for domestics went down.

Lets say if the reliability and quality of a domestic car is equal to the reliability and quality of an import, do you think the demand of the domestic cars will go down?

If I'm not in the US, I would buy a Ford Focus RS Mk2 that came from Europe and Asia. They look really better than the ones sold here in the US.

If the reliability was the same, then American cars handsdown. And yes, now that I am sober, I dunno wtf I went on about........ LOL But I will say that cars are more of a trend in some aspects I suppose, and I am biased which I will admit. But there is without a doubt, that the two brands I have mentioned are THE most reliable car makers out there. Honestly, can anyone sit there and call me a liar on that? Sure other cars you may like, but I am just saying, more bang for your buck.
