I have a 99 6G convertible. This was a pretty beat up car. I have replaced front fenders, in process of replacing top, plus a host of other issues. The car had engine fire that melted vacuum lines and anything else above and around fuel rail. Anyway I am trying to identify component that is just to the right (facing car) of wiper motor. It has one vacuum line and 3 electrical wires. I don't know what it is, or what it does. Any help would be appreciated, and if anyone has one of these I want to buy it. Thanks, Ron (foilman) in central Calif.

Pretty much pool...I'm thinking map sensor. What does that do? Sorry, went on ebay and hit celica sensors. This looks like a map sensor. I cleared codes, drove 10 miles, check engine light comes on, idles very rough, Anyone have ideas where to get one? Toyota of Fresno knows me by first name unfortunetly.

Wow thanks to all...Wires are still connected, but vacuum is melted away. Where does vacuum attach? This car was owned by a youngster that did more damage than is almost imaginable. I liked it and did some horsetrading, hence now I'm a 6gcelica convert. The kid who owned it before me had the fuel rail off and put it back on w/o tightening bolts. It leaked and caught fire, what a surprise. He acted quickly and put it out with a couple bucket loads of dirt however. In the process broke the windshield, later kicked out the windshield, and thats about the time I saw it on our local Craigslist. Anyway, after removing all interior and extracting all glass shards from everywhere, I have now replaced windshield, power steering (burnt) hose, re-assembled interior, etc. I drove it to my print shop appx 30 miles and got within 2 miles and shift cable broke (clean). Anyway got a check engine light, not sure for what, and that about brings us current, except for both front fenders off and at local body shop. I'm not even going to get into what is broken on convertible top. No disrespect to youngsters, I know this a popular car for the younger crowd. Just amazing how much damage a spoiled brat can do to a piece of equipment, especially the 6g celica. Looking forward to enjoying some top down cruising, Thanks to all, Ron.

there's a bolt w/ a plastic "head" that has 2 nipples for vacuum lines on it, on the left side of the intake mani, within 6 inches of the map sensor. maybe she still works smile.gif

Schematic says map sensor goes to gas filter. Not sure where that is. Plastic head within six inches of map sensor w/ plastic head not there. There is however two separate vacuum connectors on intake manifold within six inches. Also fuel rail has vacuum connection fairly close by. I know I need to get some pictures up, and I will try. Not very good on the computer. Thanks, Ron.
