I am waiting on a few parts before I can paint my gt-four project so I decided to paint a project that kinda has been neglected. I bought this 1994 st for 700 and planned on doing a custom 4age with a trd supercharger setup, as well as removing the bodykit and getting it back to a stock look. Since the gt-four has taken up so much of my time it's just been sitting outside. However since I had the free time I thought it would be great to paint this car as a little practice before I paint the gt-four. The paint is a bench mix of viper red and renaissance red with a little metallic flake.

MAJOR props on removing the kit and returning to a stock look. Wonder if there is already a SC'ed 6GC, you might be the first?

No i didn't paint the rear badges, I taped them because I couldn't get them off lol. The paint was a simple ppg two stage base-clear. Thanks for all the props I'm working on getting it all back together then I'll post some more pics.

how much did you end up spending between tools and materials? anything special you did, like building a "paint booth" or sanding between coats or anything? one final question, how much paint did you use and how many coats did you do?

Sorry, I'm just trying to decide if this is what I should do to my car.

Terracar-the wheel-well splash guards will cover that overspray

As for supplies I already had a gun, primer, mixing cup, filters, and some paint. I ordered a gallon (for both this and gt4) of reniassance red from my local paint shop and that was $400, that is why I chose to mix it with some viper red I had. If $400 seems high it's because it's red, don't ask me why but red is double what any other color is. I did about 8hrs of wet sanding with 320 grit then 2 coats of primer. Then I wet sanded again with 320 and sprayed 3 coats of red, then I wet sanded again and cleared with 3 coats, then wet sanded again and buffed it all out with a wheel and compound. You'll go through about 2 quarts of primer, base, and clear. I sprayed it in my garage with the door open so dust and bugs got in the paint thats why i had to do so much sanding. If you paint outside it will be almost impossible to keep dust and bugs out so I would not recommend that. Make sure to cover anything you do want overspray on in your garage. If I had to guess price for paint, paint supplies, and sand paper I would say your looking at $300-$450 depending on quality of paint.
