QUOTE (richee3 @ Nov 18, 2009 - 8:14 PM) *
I totally understand you being mad about your dad taking the first drive in it. If after I swap the Celica, put a lot of hard work and money into it, my dad just hops in it and takes off, I'd be upset too. But, after I finally have my first go in it, I'd let it all go. I wouldn't care that my dad had the first drive. After all, who drove it first isn't important. What is important is how much work you've put into the car, everything you've gone through, and you'll finally be able to drive it. The project is finished and over, now it's time to enjoy what you've put so much effort into. In 20 years, you won't care that your dad drove it first. Back to my example of my dad driving the Celi first after I get everything done, truthfully I'd love if he took the first drive in it. He and I have completely different interests and don't do much together. It would mean a lot to me if he actually cared enough to want to go for a spin in the car after I get everything done. And if he and I shared the same interests and he helped me out with the car once in a while, as your dad did with the Z, it would mean even more to me that he cared enough to help out and cared to drive the car.

I don't know, that's just my sentimental $0.02. All I can say is be careful on the first drive! If a bird craps on the car, make sure you shoot that bird.

No,you make sure u go **** on the birds car...family guy ftw!

Awesome project. How much experience did you have going into this project? Why aren't the new rims you bought on the car in the pictures?

Going in to this project? Virtually no experience... I had simply taken the front bumper of the celica on and off a few times....
The new rims won't go on until spring with some new rubber.
The side markers arent on either for some reason

Thanks man

And I drove the Z for the first time today. I love the car, I love how it feels, how smooth it is.... just everything....
And it sounds great when you lay in to the throttle, I love it

I snapped a few pictures today while I was out working at the summer house.... Not great pic, but pics none the less! Opinions welcome!
And yes, I know the new wheels aren't on nor the front markers in the bumper..... and I'm waiting on the front bumper emblem now.

Dude I just came across this thread and I sat here and read the whole 9 pages!! This is awesome!! I can't imagine the feeling of satisfaction that you had during your first drive, knowing that all the blood sweat and tears(and money) paid off after two and a half years!! Great job!!!!

My only thoughts while looking at it is, (5 year olds trantrum voice) "I WANT IT, I WANT IT, I WANT IT, I WANT IT!"

Very sexy.

totally understand your privacy
i have no doubt it worth all the money you've put into it
for the pleasure of doing it and learning from it
but, in the long run did it go over or under the value of just buying one(money wise)

btw, your project is sick (for 2.5 years laugh.gif )

good work dustin.

are you able to get the edge where the bumpers (front and rear) meet the fenders to grab on closer? they look a little loose towards the ends.
