After I installed the spoiler..my hatch doesn't seem to want to open when I pull the latch. it really hasn't bothered me much since I use the ghetto 'seatbelt pull' method. But I was just wondering if any of you who have heavy hatches have this hassle and if any of you found a fix for it.
Other than taking off the spoiler or getting new shocks. (my shocks were brand new when I got the new hatch and spoiler) Thanks, Malek -------------------- |

It really isn't aftermarket though..it was a spoiler from a 95 celica. The blocks I thought weren't really heavy at all..

They make different lift supports for the hatchback with and without the spoiler.
If the car came with the spoiler, it will have a stronger lift support. |

LOL You wanna talk about hatch problems... I broke the lever to lift mine, so I gotta bust out the key for it. GT4 spoiler makes it HEAVY! That thing will slam on you if you aren't careful, or if it is cold outside (somehow it affects the struts to hold it open).

yeah, especially in the winter time like this it gets cold n my struts don't hold too well. I think since they are gas struts, they are affected by temperature.

I am certain that is what it is. I wonder if that affects normal car struts as well then. -------------------- 91 MR2 Turbo SW20, 92 MR2 Turbo SW20, 95 Celica GT ST204

it does, around here threw the winter when you first set out to drive your car you can feel it, its right stiff and feels like crap, after 10-15 minutes of driving it goes away. i think moving the gas around warms it up and you car feels more normal

I have a 94 so the struts are old, and I've got a spoiler and lifters with no problems at all.
Maybe get new hydraulic things for the rear hatch? -------------------- ![]() psalm 69 |

i got the same problem, i think it is alot due to the cold but some of it is also due to the extra weight of the blocks, anyone ever changed these out before? how hard would it be for new trunk struts

They are really easy to change. Just find someone or something to hold the hatch up while you take off the old ones and put on the new ones. I wonder if there are some specifically made for heavier hatches. I didn't look too deep into it. Let me know if you find anything or come up with something that works. -------------------- |
