Hi guys,
I don't understand why the people recommend me 8" subwoofer
why cannot be 12"?, please i need your advices

-Receiver: 5.1 Sony STR-DH500
-Center speaker: Sony SS-CR3000
-Front speakers: Sony SS-F6000 Floor Standing Speakers
-Rear speakers: Sony SS-B1000
-Subwoofer: i have a active Sony subwoofer model SA-WMSP75 from a Sony HT-DDW750 Home Theater System

My first option was a JBL ES250PBK 12" but now im seriously planing buy a Elemental Designs A2-300
Also i read good reviews about the Acoustic Audio HD-SUB12

But first i would like to know why people recommend me a 8" not 12" sub?
I live in small apartment and i use my home theater only to play movies(horror and action) i love deep and highs bumps!

I hope you can hepl me guys!

8 is for the door upgrade, 12s are def better for the rear trunk sub. I just bought the precision power's best sub on ebay for only 100 bucks with shipping brand new. Haven't found a stronger sub. JL, Rockford, Resonant Engineering, JBL, can't match up.

a) go to a home audio forum

b) you live an apartment.....if you get 12" you're just being a douche to the people living around you...

For home theater stuff, the bigger it is, the more bulky it is and looks and that's harder to hide and squeeze in a corner. An 8 with active poting will be easier to hide. If you hide it in a good spot, you'll make resonance enough to compensate anyway as subs are not line of sight. So if you have a 12 but its out in the open, versus a hidden 8 that resonates, the 8 will hit harder. The 12's are also built for bigger systems pushing uber power generally speaking. So if you try to power something like that on a home theater that's not built for it, you will blow something. Either the receiver for straining to reach power or the sub from being underpowered. Size isn't really a determining factor so much with speaker technology these days. It's all about impendance.
