but I hate to see law abuse its power. That's some damn bully crap right there.

So the government is NOT allowed to enforce their abilities but civilians are allowed to drive a car recklessly on open roads? That is true hypocrisy right their (also what anarchy is... pure hypocrisy)

All I saw where 4 cars that deserved to be destroyed, I do EMT and I have seen on hand what a driver can do, with one of these to not only himself but others. Street racers are irresponsable and just blatant to others safety.

in little cases yes.

but in the case in the video no.

in the video they blocked off the street they were racing on and the only harm they could have done is too themselves and that would have been punishment alone.
destroying someones 30,000 dollar car soulfully because they speed and race is bullsh*t.
that's opening up laws to be available.
like if your hunting in the wrong spot what if they just took all your gear?
if we really felt like making a stand to this whole law we could most definitely get more "government" tracks and strips built.
this is not just a personal vendetta commercials are always showing new v8 chargers racing along and ****.
overview (more tracks and strips less street racing speeding)

if they felt like fixing anything they would stop wasting cop's time and just build some more damn tracks and strips that video just pissed me off kindasad.gif

This video reminds me of Aztec's performing sacrificial rituals like taking out a heart of a human while it was still beating, only with automobiles and Megadeth.

i never said that. i'm simply saying that the government needs to be LIMITED on what they are able to do.

these "street racers" should be punished. ABSOLUTELY!! (let some jackass "street racing" punk hit my car when my daughter is in it; and i'll solve that problem on the spot wink.gif )

i also never said i was an anarchist (neither did you; i'm just explaining before the wrong implication is implied) I simply believe that power corrupts; and absolute power corrupts absolutely. give em an inch and they'll take a mile.

i disagree to the first statement.

and i fully endorse the 3rd! We're not argueing this point. it's why the cars were destroyed that i'm arguing.

i agree with most of this.

Blocked off street or not, it was wrong, and the "racers" should be punished.

but as you said, destroying valuable vehicles that could have been parted; or sold to someone else- to raise money for things like streets; traffic signs, road paving, SPEED BUMPS (lol) would have been more effective.

this video said to me "I am the LAW; I'm BETTER than you; and you can't do NOTHING about it"

(like the stereotypical bully, that takes what he wants; and destroys it meaninglessly {and without gaining anything from it} just to make a display and spectacle of his power)

am i wrong?

^ Yes and no. The fact that their cars were destroyed puts out the message that the same can happen to any street racer; hence, there is hope that some are deterred from racing on public roads. Will it make a huge difference? Not likely.

To go along with that if you put it into terms of lets say drugs. The government isn't going to try to turn around and make a profit off of it , they are just going to burn it to remove all doubt of it returning. Its an effective way in terms of preventing any more problems.

the only way too prevent it is more tracks.

^ How does more tracks solve anything? I know people who street race to race on the street, not because they cant go to a track. You could build tracks all day long still wont stop people from street racing unless the tracks are free, open 24/7 and you can race any class. Thats not going to happen.

yup. its just the "thrill" of racing on the street..... and not getting busted i'm sure adds 500% to that thrill.

Like Swissferdi said, this was just a display of power to attempt to deter street racing to the general crowd.....

i agree with both sides... bullying at its finest, and waste of tax $ HOWEVER if you get fined multiple times and STILL do it... well something more permanent needs to be done. im on the fence about arresting spectators though.....

BTW: isnt california circling the drain as we speak?! if they need money so damn bad why are they not selling the cars for DOUBLE their value with all those mods done to them?!? what states nearby have less stringent emission/modification laws? it would probably be more beneficial to them to ship and sell to other states!

law enforcement has it all wrong. theyre only focused on direct and overt punishment as a viable means of solving a problem. (ex: prison-criminals learn to become better criminals and it is gang breeding territory)

THERE IS SO MUCH WIN IN MATT's POST!!

and i agree with the example (but that's a whole nother' can of worms we ain't gunna open right here/now

it was an attempt to discourage street-racing. just not a very smart/effective one.

More cars can be bough, mod'd, and raced. they've delayed the inevitable; and so long as those "BIG 4" guys are out, it'll give a chance for all the other guys to race and make names for themselfs- just multiplying the problem when the original 4 get new cars rolleyes.gif

now i dont have a better solution here, i'm just saying that that was a bad one.
