i want to repaint my whole car and have them use a sand blaster media to get rid of paint and then repaint....anyone in california have dealt with paint shops they would recommend because of good and honest work?

i don't trust maaco....but it is the one with a nice package, but what i heard and have seen is, they just repaint over the existing paint. anyone in the central cali...fresno perhaps have had their celi repainted with good work.....if so, would you PLEASE post your pic of the celi with its new paint on this forum also stating your price of the paint too.

ya I got my done at one day paint. I got the 5 year warranty paint which is very good paint. The only downside is that they don't do much prep work at all, I had the inside of my front bumper painted all red and it got on my a/c condenser. So if you do your own prep work and take it their they will do the paint for $600-700. On most of the car they dont even sand down the car, so most of your old paint is still there. kindasad.gif

that's what i was afraid of....i thought about checking out the ads people put up about trading their paint job for money on the side, but i have dents too i want to take care of and i don't know if they will do a good job.

Pandakid, are you sanding down by hand or machine(sand blasting media)....? i got quoted for $800 for prep, sand, dent fix and paint for maaco.

BonzaiCelica, the shop that you did yours, did they at least fix your dents too if you had any?

why are you worried about painting over your old paint? there isnt really any need for you to strip your car down to metal is there?

only reasons are if you have rust/peeling paint, or severe body damage.
id say your best bet is actually taking your car apart, and doing all the prep work yourself. sand down everything. and let them spray it. just stick to the basics, take bumpers off, headlights out, and handles. if maaco doesnt take much care in masking things off, it can peel quickly.

yeah...i do have rust and rock chips....i have a hood in a different color....side skirt in differ color with cracks...my main purpose of this thread is to find a good paint shop in central cali and where the painters took care of doing the paint job really good and not half-fast work.

rear went into a gaurd rail at an early morning canyon run at 3 am.

after, and the worst thing was that I backed up into a pole in the same area 2 months after I got the dent fixed and repainted. The only thing I don't like is the fact that it doesn't have that oem rear quarter panel lip.

ya its only a small dent in the rear quarter panel. I'll be getting it painted in about 6 months with renaissance red 3L2.

1 day Paint is the name of the place located in long beach. But they have many locations all over so cal! the color is super red

no clue man sorry. I don't remember. You'd probably have to go to one of those places and see for yourself. Some spots on the car have already chipped paint and you can see the old paint under it. Do due the fact, like I said before, that they didn't prep the car right

got it....ill keep everyone posted as i find it very convenient for everyone to know of which shop provide a good service and paint job...yes i know that you get what you pay for, but i believe there are genuinely great people out there that can paint just as good for a good price----> only problem is finding them...my budget is around 800-1000 with work and prep to get car back to factory...ill keep searching.

i'd say if you can prep it yourself go for it,paying for prep is the most expensive part. im gonna guess factory quality with prep would be about $2500-$3000 that i got quoted for.

yeah...i figured it be high...the only problem i had with it myself was the coverage and warranty...some shops won't touch my car because of the bondo work i have done in some area of the body and they told me it would not be warranty. i know there are some inside job people will do on the side for a lower amount and do the fixing and painting in the 500s...i just have yet to go see their work and what they really can do instead of just talk.

pretty good...no drips or overspray? i guess that is my next stop...what did they say about your prep work? did they say they won't cover you in warranty because you have done work on it?
