Ok so I blew another engine, and im trying to figure out what to do. Basically I blew the stock celica 2.3, Threw in a jdm 2.3l, It ran like crap for about a year, and just crapped out on me today. So im looking at options. I am on a budget. But what do you guys think? Im starting to like the idea of maybe throwing in a 6 cyl engine. What would I be looking at? Otherwise, where can I find another good replacement engine? Or a good deal on a 3sgte setup ( and where i can get my harness done if i do?) Thanks for the help guys. I appreciate it as always.

P.S, my car is a 94 gt 5spd

How did you manage to blow 2 engines. also the 5s is 2.2 not 2.3 read the stickies for info about engine swaps it has all been covered before including where to have your harness done.

Send the harness to Dr. Tweak. I haven't had anything done by him, but from everyone on the forums who has, I've heard nothing but happy endings.

Personally, I'm leaning towards swapping in a 4AGE and not sure whether to turbo or supercharge it.

dude, if you are on a budget, get a 5sfe and done. Or you can sell it afterwards.

3sgte or a v6 is not a budget swap...

Cheap. Reliable. Fast. Pick two.

its been said before, third time is the charm. Whats making your engines blow?

I found a serious 3sgte short block for pretty cheap, but I would still need the rest of the components. I.E Computer, top end,.......... Suggestions?

I'll sell you what is left from my 2nd gen 3s. I'm located in Mass, it would be an easy deal since there is no shipping. I already have the harness extended and the correct ECU, etc. I sold a few things off of it, (turbo, downpipe, manifold, AFM, IC and piping) but the rest is still there.

PM me if you are interested.

overheating. The car ran hot, air/fuel ratio was always a little weird with that engine

sourcing all those parts, that are in good condition and what not, IMO is going to be pretty hard and a little pricey if you need one thing ya know. The price of individual parts adds up, as to where u can buy a clip and have everything
but GL with whatever u end up doing

If your on a budget just put another 2.2 5sfe in their not worth sourcing out parts because you have a 3s block just imo...

I'm with just about everyone else with this one. Drop another 5sfe in it and figure out whats causing you to go through motors like that.

Well I took all of your advice. I found a 5sfe in Rhode island for $615. It has 101,000 miles on it. I thought it was a great deal. That wasnt even the best part. THey through in a full, unused body kit, that was sitting in the car when whoever owned it, junked it. Talk about getting some good luck finally. Wish my order of operations wasnt so f'd up. Anyway, im going to try to drop the thing in this weekend if i can. Wish me luck boys, its gunna be a tough weekend

If its still new and never been fitted yes its normal, while the engine is out you might want to do a little "refresh" on it too if your low on funds do the major ones like cam seals, front/rear main seal, t-belt, etc...pretty much the harder ones to do when the engine is in your car.

Ive had 3 different kits, if they dont have holes, then they are new (unfitted). May take a little work to get them to fit perfectly.
What kind of kit is it?
