Been driving it in the snow now and I notice every time I get home there's only snow build up behind the drivers side tire, NEVER behind the pass side.

So today it was raining and I did a couple little burnouts from stop signs and it's ALWAYS the driver side spinning.
I took a tight right turn and made it spin [which should ALWAYS engage the pass side] yet the drivers side was the one spinning.

It is NEVER getting power. I'm not hearing any clicking like a bad axle would.

What could be the culprit and what should I check out?

The snow backup is most likely just a fender well plastic that got unhindged. The burning out is most likely a crappy tire or a suspension thing.

Also our cars stock are NOT lsd therefor when you burnout only one tire would spin.

Did you guys not read what I said?

It only engages the driver side in ALL situations. An open differential will spin whichever tire has the least traction, and that varies between driver/pass side according to road conditions, left or right turns etc.

Even in the snow in the driveway, turning sharp right and flooring it [should engage pass side and it should spin, but the DS spins]. This is not right, the passenger side should spin, but it will not.

You try to make a smartass comment when you don't even know how an open differential works, really? LOL
Also if people didn't make new threads this [and all] forums would be quite dead.

the driver's side always gets power first.
It's the shorter axle with less resistance, it spins first.

"smartass" ? that's just not right rolleyes.gif
don't be upset, it's the way a Celica s54 tranny works, maybe you should know that before you insult this site and the people on it first.

I smell a pissy newb. Ive been here for years and went to school for automotive high performance. I know how and open diff works. you seem to know ALOT. so why dont you figure it out your damn self then??????? and with my edit i was talking about changing the description because you have like 3 problems that arent major problems. sorry i dont like seeing the forum clogged up. and the inside wheel is the wheel taht will spin slower. the outside will be the one faster. you made a right turn. therefor making the right tire on the outside and spin faster. drivers side is shorter. it spins 1st.

I did not know that, good info. How come the driver side axle is shorter?
Am I the only one then who doesn't like the fact that the DS always spins? It pulls the car in odd directions sometimes.

I didn't insult the site, this seems to be the spot for 6GCs and most of you have killer rides.
I learn things by asking lots of questions. For some reason people get pissed off about this, but the explanations provided help me learn a lot
of things I otherwise wouldn't know.

So does this driver side always getting the most power affect the handling of the Celi's negatively?

Accelerate from a stop light like everyone else and you won't have that problem.

driver side is shorter because the engine is transversely mounted.

We don't like answering the same damned question over and over. I can assure you the majority of questions you'll ask or have already asked have been covered. Use the search function.

Yes. It does.

You just aren't typing in the initial search specifically enough. Treat it more like tags instead of single words. Looking for someone's 3SGTE swap? Type in like 6 or 7 words associated with that instead of just "3SGTE swap".

Now,had you looked around the site youd find how to use the search function properly. There is a thread about it,I'm not going to just tell you.
