So before any meets I really want to make the car looks its best for what I have done to it, it has some rust and stock rims (im trying to get stock gt rims for cheap) so I was wondering what I would do on the outside to add some jazz, I was thinking of a light coat of vht night shade, and window tint, and I want the paint to look nice...any ideas?

for the paint to look nice if your talking about getting it feeling smooth and shiny what i did on mine as it was a dull white when i bought it felt like sandpaper ect i bought a cheapo 10" random orbital buffer, some light polishing compound liquid first then went to some meguires ultimate polish, then i went to some liquid meguires cleaner wax then did a last coat by hand of some ice wax and came out pretty damn shiny and really smooth even with the scratches, mines white so had a ton of black finger prints, some scratches, paint exchange marks and looks loads better..eventualy it will need repainting but for now it looks decent...and when i just want to touch up the shine alittle i wash it then use some of that spray detailer, i use eagle one nano wax and works pretty good...and shamwows do work and work great for drying a car smile.gif

Ive had my tails nightshaded for like ever, gives it a nice look, and its cheap in comparison to the only 2 options for tails we have (jdm or afterburners) craigslist has a ton of nice rims for pretty cheap around us. I got my rims and tires for $450, id wait it out and check everyday till you find something. And i think im going to tint my windows soon, by my self if it comes out good i could always help you out, saving some money. But ive never done it before so idk
Also I have my old invader sideskirts, id sell um for like $60 since ur local, nothing wrong with them, already fitted, i just got different SS so i took them off. You could easily throw some cheap basically matching paint on them too. let me know if ur interested

I can get a hold of a buffer and polish it up, so from a distance you wont notice all the badness lol

Yea VHT is like $12, I think I will only do 1-2 coats, then some clear coat. As far as rims I am trying to look at salvage (gt rims, pretty much if someone doesnt want or need them and I can get a great deal). I have never done tint either but have watched many videos, I was thinking of going to autozone and getting their legal tint (20% rear/35% smoke front). Perhaps we could get together some day and both do our tints =p. And I dont know if the skirts would look good on mine givin the front and rear are stock and I have an invader on my last celica =p

yeah doing the nightshade, just make sure you 100% clean them, i used like alcohol wipes to make sure everything was off, them make sure its dry, and do extremely light coats. i did like 2 coats the first time i did it, and it wears off in like a month (even with crap clear coat) but then i did like 20 reallllllly light coats and it stayed for like a year with no clear, then when i painted my car I cleared them with professional clear. rattle can clear coat, is really rough and not all that shiny, and hard to sand without sanding the night shade a little. Just do light coats.
lol and yeah as soon as it gets warm out i might do my tint, i cant imagine its all that hard

Window tint isn't as easy as you'd think it would be, but it isn't impossible. I very highly endorse letting a professional do the tint. Not that I doubt your skills or anything, but the crap you buy at Autozone is just that- crap. It turns purple and peels off. Plus it isn't big enough to do the rear window, so you'd have to do two separate strips.

As for making the car look better, I vote clay bar and some decent wax. Spend about $25 and take a whole day to detail the car and you'll have it looking a lot better. There are plenty of things you can do to the car to make it look better such as the window tint and VHT, but it all starts with a decent-looking finish.

Window tinting is easy if you have the patience..... Thats the only problem. I get mad quick sometimes when things don't work out as planned.

Shop around online and you can buy all the windows pre cut so it makes it 10x easier than cutting the pieces out yourself.

Yeah the only hard part about tinting is the rear window....got its a bitch, I did my side windows, but can't get the rear to look good so I'm having a professional do the rear window.
