We was contacted by a member on ebay and was told he had a V8.
Which one of you was it and how did you do it? |

Haha... actually if it wasnt for the steering rack location there's plenty of room for a LSx swap.

there is a guy in NJ with a chevy V8 ( I think small block ) on a 6th gen RWD converted.
I saw it in pass time, but I don't think he belongs to the site. -------------------- ![]() |

They didnt happen to say whether it was a 1st-7th gen celica did they....guessing that either a 1st or 2nd gen chassis can fit in a V8...lots of youtube videos of them.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fVCEDMi0iNk http://celica-generations.blogspot.com/200...ster-video.html EDIT: if you can fit a V8 in a 5th gen, dont see why it couldnt happen in a 6th gen....man someone should really try and put some engineering effort into said attempt... It could be done, there's more room in the celica than my rx7 and I managed to fit a v8 and a turbo. The problem you run into the the celica is the steering. The power steering rack sits pretty much right in the location of where the bellhousing of the tranmission would fit. You'd have to get real creative with the front suspension to make it work 'properly'. -------------------- -93 Rx7, Turbo 6.1L v8, 725rwhp/760rwtq

LSx celicas would be perfect. Making it function and 'solved' are two different things. To be honest i'd be suprised if the suspension/steering worked well judging by how far you'd have to move it. Not that I was going to attempt it... i've already done one of those stupid projects, but I was really sizing it up the other day when I was doing the awd stuff. Thinking I could easily fit a v8 in here. However after thinking about it the LSX T56 transmission's diameter is just too big. The rack would really have to be dropped pretty low. On the RX7, the rack was forward enough that it sat near the stock location of where the vette rack sits. It had to be dropped but only by about a 3/4" of an inch. The oil pan was shapped in a way to give it about 4 inches of clearance from the bottom of the pan/transmission. In the celica the rack would have to sit under the transmission because it's in the rear of the engine bay and the bumpsteer correction would be huge. You could do it, make it function, but i'd never track the car or drive too aggresively on turns. How about swapping the front subframe off of one of those cars onto ours. And just use their suspension. I was doing some measuring the other day while at work to see if it would be feasible to do a 1jz swap. Theres enough room no doubt about that, but the suspension on the gs300 I was measuring up had crazy strut camber with the way the suspension is set up.
Oh and the firewall would need a bigger tunnel. -------------------- 98 Celica gt red- totaled deer
