Hi, I'm getting this annoying squeaky sound coming from the front suspension...I didn't drive my car for 2 weeks and when I took it back, it just started doing that...

Anyone could enlighten me on this? and what should I do?

Can you describe it a little more?
That's very vague..

Sure!

Squeaky/wet like rubber sound or like a old mattress when the coils get old. when going over bumps ( speed bumps etc )
Low Creaking noise like metal clicking on each other when i turn the wheel and accelarate or turning at around 10-15 mph.
Hear a clicking/squeaking noise when i push the car back and fourth in park.


Last I heard that sound was on my mazdaspeed protege when the rear sway bar bushings were broken...

Hmm that's not something I've heard before.
If you've heard it before on your mazda, I'd take a look at the swaybar bushings front and rear first.
Check for cracks or other signs of wear.
I've never experienced that so that's all the advice I could give, but maybe other members will have an idea.

Ok I'll try and apply some grease on the bushings

Thats what my mr2 sounded like when they swaybar bushings were shot. Mostly could hear it when going over speed bumps at low speed. My celica has started doing it recently just a little bit though

And where can I find new bushings? I don't even know what's the diameter of the swaybars...
I always forget this detail: It's a ST205.

i doubt it's the sway bar brushing if it makes the noise while pushing the car back and forth while parked. probably a wheel bearing. have you tried bouncing the car up & down?

Yes, and it does the sound...
Maybe I've got the "clunk" issue from the SSS

sounds like a bit of both superstrut arm and wheel bearing,

with superstrut, find the arm with the worn ball joint and replace that arm, sometimes you'll need new tophats aswell

I really doubt it would be a wheel bearing, the sound is only on small bumps, holes or any bumpy surface. I have no loss of control at high speed, nor turning tendency. steering wheel isn't shaky

edit: I wrote squishy...I meant squeaky at first...

That description sounds like superstrut balljoint and tophat.

Ive owned my GT4 from 130,000 to 190,000 kms...

Depends how long it's been bad for, aslong as the handling hasn't majorly changed it should be ok to continue commuting while you've made arrangements with a mechanic.

i managed to drive from 130,000kms to about 155,000kms with a noisy F/R wheelbearing before it developed play and when we replaced it the noise went away, was able to finally associate that noise with a front wheel bearing and get rid of it. The worn out parts were on the right side at that stage but the noise came in while cornering left around a sweeping corner but you need the engine silent (ie neutral, low revs or high gear) to hear it hence when you mention 10-15mph i knew straight away what you meant since you cant hear squat over the 3sgte rumbling away.

now the thing with the superstrut balljoints, oh yeah a busted wheel bearing will give you massive toe in/out play but busted superstrut balljoints will give you massive caster play, this one is worse especially if you've developed a noise what happens is, once that ball joint has worn enough to give you caster play (back and forth play) the whole strut assembly will tug away at the suspension top hat until if you let it get as bad as I did (was at around 170,000kms) basically everything the wheel, brakes, suspension will be dangling on the road, leading to further damage to other arms and knuckles, etc...

once that front suspension death noise came about i ceased driving immediately and for the price of 2 new struts and tophats i got a BC coilover kit which includes camber adjustable tophats and bought some new superstrut arms

the same deal has happened twice for me, right side went first (along with the wheel bearing) and as it did the superstrut wearing out also broke my tophats, and then the 2nd time it happened on the left side and took the (new) tophats with it.. so now i have new superstrut arms with coilovers and new tophats, ready for another 100,000kms of beating

I've owned regular Celicas of various milage, including an SS-III (superstrut) and they have never had problems with wheel bearings or superstrut, I think basically the chassis are of similar strength but the GT4 engine subjects the chassis to twice the amount of force (torque) that you'd have to drive a regular Celica hard for so many miles that other problems would crop up long before you ever wore out a wheel bearing

My mechanic told me that I had to change everything, because everything is lose...But did he meant lose because the parts are meant to move around? should I change only the lower arm and figure8?
