So my friend had me troubleshoot his boost leak in his EVO, it was a tiny crack on the housing of his HKS SSQV BOV where the housing holds the nipple that the vacuum line connects to. He bought another one, I replaced it and he let me keep this one. The crack loosened the hold on the nipple so it came out completely while I was trying to figure out if it was salvageable. Before I attempted a JB welb repair I read a lot of forums where people had used JB weld under pressure. One guy had something held by JB weld under about 70 pounds of pressure before it violently blew off, and another guy said he's been using JB weld on his intake piping for years. So I attempted a repair. I broke off the two tiny pieces that were barely held on, gingerly coated the nipple and slid it back into the BOV, I carefully put the two pieces back that had broken off, there was enough JB weld there to hold them down. I pressed them until JB weld squeezed out from the edges and then wiped off the excess. Apparently JB weld can't hold above 70 lbs of pressure, I'm sure it can hold what I'm going to throw at it. It didn't seem like the nipple was glued in by anything before, I think the BOV was molded around it. Now it looks like this, behold my free BOV, if it doesn't work then I'll buy one. It should work fine though. I love the sound of the HKS SSQV's, and I got a free one, praise God!
