OK My son and I put a remaned cylinder head on his 95 vert and now we have a oil leak from what looks like its coming from the gasket. Is it possible to retighten head bolts to see if it stops the leak and do the cams have to come out to get to the bolts??? thanx in advance. I HATE OIL LEAKS

When you put the head back on, did you replace the gasket and use FIPG (form in place gasket) from Toyota. That stuff works like a charm!

copper spray gasket permatex should be ok. Did you check carefully to see if it is coming from between the head and block? Could be an oil line that is leaking or the valve cover leaking.

going to check it out tomorrow and make sure where leakm is coming from. Man I hope its a line Sometimes the leak can come from a line or valve cover and streak down to the bottom of the head. From there it would travel around the headgasket making it look like its coming from there. Just remember if it is leaking from between the head and block then you have bigger issues and should stop driving it. -------------------- ![]() 1990 Celica Turbo All-Trac, 1977 Celica GT Liftback, 1999 Celica GT Convertible, 2004 Lexus IS300 5-Speed |
