RACELAND COILOVERS

I am currently talking with a rep from Raceland (http://www.racelandus.com) to see if they're willing to make some of their coilovers for us Celica owners.

THE GOOD:

1. Some want to just lower our car and raise it whenever we please.

2. Some of us don't want to spend a lot of money doing this because sometimes that kind of money will be more than what we spent for the car initially.

3. We only have two options regarding suspension: KYB or Coilovers.

4. Koni front inserts are okay, but at $347 a pair for just the front... it's not really an appealing thing for some of us. The rears require tools and guts some of us don't have/aren't willing to develop, ESPECIALLY when considering something so expensive shouldn't require even slight modification to fit.

5. Our coilover options are ABOVE $800 for a full set, some of which come with features we don't really NEED like damping adjustment. It's not bad, but it's not necessary in a lot of cases (when you think about it, you can't adjust KYB GR-2... so you don't really need adjustability of dampers unless you're racing)

THE BETTER:

Raceland offers a two-year warranty on their coilovers. The policy can be found HERE

THE BAD:

Just like most other companies' entry-level coilovers, these ARE NOT covered for abuse, such as autocrossing or any kind of extreme race applications. Improper installation, modifications to the coilover itself and such will void the warranty.

What does this mean? If you use them for daily driving, and they happen to blow on you, you can have them replaced under warranty.

With that said, these coils are in the ballpark of $400 including strut mounts and height adjustment tools. They offer progressive springs and set-rate springs as well for some vehicles, so they could do the same for us.

The coils go as far as 3" drop on some cars.

So, summarizing:

$400 coilovers that go anywhere from 1" to 3" of height drop, with a 30-day satisfaction guarantee. They are also the only coilover company that offers a 2-year warranty.

They're not BAD, either, because I've read from tons of different owners that run these coils as DD coilovers and they say they're just fine (specifically Mazda owners). They ride comfortable and are adjustable, what more can you want?

Who's up for some height-adjustable coils?

are these going to be compatible with 5th gen celicas?

Yes. The helper springs in my case made it craptastic.

I believe the suspension setup on 5th and 6th gen celicas are the same. Correct me if I'm wrong. I haven't found information saying otherwise.

EDIT: The springs are the same for 6th and 5th gen w/ Mcpherson. If they're the same that means the length from the strut base to the strut mount is the same.

Two questions remain: Are the struts the same length physically? Are the strut mounts the same?

Someone on here put the struts an springs from a 5th gen on his 6th gen with no problem
Said they look the same.
Im going to advance autoparts tomorrow ill see if the part numbers are the same

Yes, I'd go for a set. I'm pessimistic about a company making an application for our cars, but hopefully there's some Celica love in Belgium.

i have had these on one of my vw's and they ride like a sack full of ass-holes. spend a couple hundred more and get something decent, just my 2 cents.

Getting both positive and negative feedback from various other forums. But the way I see it the price is hard to beat. I see no problem taking part in this buy.

I would be interested as well. I just sent them an email.

Sent an email too. I too would like a coilover upgrade for a 150K+ daily driver that I wish was a toy.
