I am trying to figure out where I should start diagnosing...this issue I am having with the car. So I have a 94 ST with a 97 engine/ecu and some unknown harness. The fuel pump does not get power until the car is turned on so I have to jump for it to run when I crank the car. The car also doesnt start without the help of starter fluid and a lot of trial. Now when it does start I turn the ignition off and the car is still running, I take the key out of the ignition and the car is still running, I take the negative battery pole out and the car is still running, I take the positive battery pole off and the car still runs, I take off the EFI fuse and it still runs...Im about to remove the alternator wire, but then I think hey this may not be a good idea....so i start removing wires for the dizzy and it finally shuts off.... What a car, it starts when it wants and shuts off when it wants. I cant win here.

at that point id get a 94 harness and ecu and go from there... sounds like whoever did the swap really REALLY screwed the wiring

well how long does it stay running? because the car may be dieseling not sure if you know what it is but ease of conversation its when carbon builds on the top of your piston and creates an ember (small ball of fire like a cigarette or your choice of tobacco) and it may be acting as a glow plug.

Though that is a noble concept, I'm more prone to thinking he has some wiring issues =P

Haha it was what came to mind at first stop. Whoever put in my anti theft system put a relay onto the ignition maybe check that out cuz i had an issue similar to this as well the wire to turn the igniton uncrimped itself look through the wiring like everyone is saying and see whats up.

As much as id like to go back to a 94 harness and ecu that's outta the question. That would been I would need a new ecu tb intake manifold dizzy.

I'm gonna start by removing the old alarm system but my main task is finding a new harness...they are so damn hard to find

trans connections are different (auto connector added, others should be the same)
starter circuit slightly different.

it will work, but you will need to move a pin to let it crank properly

wouldnT a bad COR cause a problem like this ? if the relay is stuck open it wouldn't kill the power thus engine would stay running. no ?

Circuit Opening Relay, is attached to the ECU, but is an external part.

locate the relay and do a test on the relay to make sure is working properly ( google such test if not familiar with it )

ah I know exactly what you are talking about. I replaced it when I switched the ECU
