how many of the LED's did you have to by to do your whole climate control? I saw the pics, they look good but are they bright enough?

They are bright enough... in total there where 8 LEDs soldered to the board, 3 lamps that twisted off, and one which was seperate inside the defroster.

I might add two more LEDs on the board to make it even brighter.

Just to give u an idea of why this pic doesnt do justice just look at the Headunit, believe me when i tell you in real life look those rings around the knobs are bright.

Dude that is so bad azz. I really want to get a full on write-up on how you did that. The pictures are nice but I would like some total info on all that was involved. You rule dude and that is exactly what my next project is going to be. bowdown.gif

Adjust your shutter speed on the camera to stay open longer. That'll help with the low light situation. I think the landscape setting has a pretty long exposure time.

the nighttime has longer... but yeah... do that, and make sure your cameras proped up against something to hold it steady... otherwise, you wont get a clear pic...

you need to have at least 4 main leds to get the climate control really brite.
otherwise the lighting is all scattered

The normal LEDs on the board where just wired straight to the circuit board. The 3 Lamps (backlight) I used the ground off the circuit board, and ran a seperate wire off the resistors into 1 main wire which is hooked up to the interior lights from the cigarette lighter...

defgeph how much was the ignition light assembly...

35 bucks lol I just have to figure out how to run the wire so the lite stays on till i turn the key. hopefully i can just plug it in somewhere.
you get the plastic ring, lite bulb and harness

oh and Ran my 4main leds the same way. its easier to run them from another source. but I ran mine from the wire strip thats in the control box. I'm gonna paint the stock bulbs in my other control box to see how that will work. if that doesnt work, I'm gonna just use 194 bulbs once I find some sockets I can buy

Yea its easier to run it externally especially when the resistors are on..

One idea for the light ring is dome supervision...if your not familiar with it it is used in alarms and newer cars when you open the door handle of your car the dome light stays on for XX amount of seconds.

So what i am suggesting is a few relays with a delay, once you open the door to your car of course your dome light turns on, so you splice into your dome light wire, and than hook up a few relays to give you a surge delay.

So where do the resistors go? Can someone post a pic of the resistors and where they go.

Ok, the three (actually four including the defroster) lamps which twist off get resistors if you are using LEDs, basically feed the LED tails thru the original holes of the old lamps assembly fold the negative over like the old lamp was. The positive LED gets a 220ohm resistor soldered to it than from there I than took another wire about 6" in length and soldered it to the other end of the resistor than put some heatshrink over it... i did it for the 3 main lamps inside the climate control... once they where all done i connected the wires to each other soldered another wire to it and used the cigarette lighter lamp wires to tap into...

How-to is here; http://home.comcast.net/~dmvinny/
