the light isn't what is red, its the lens. You would need to make a custom lens.

my inspections deduct that it shouldnt be too hard to make one of sorts.... just pop out the red, and cut a clear piece out of say clear office light material.... the same stuff that jon uses to make out tails for us.... it might have to be glued in or something, but doesnt look that hard... ill take a stab at it in a couple of days.... maybe i can get a good prototype of this and start manufacturing them for people smile.gif

They are talking about the panels that cover flourescent lighting. They come in 2'x4' sheets in a few different styles. Some are clear... some are white. Make sure to get the acrylic ones cause the reg ones will break a lot easier. Not sure exactly what they are called. Most people just call them lighting panels i think.

The red is there for a reason. Since you open your door, it acts to simulate a brake light so someone driving by doesn't rip your door off, since the universal color for stop is indeed red. Just something you might want to think about. Customizing the light may hinder it's visability...so unless you feel you don't need doors, i'd leave it alone. Just my $.02.

teknique, I somewhat agree but if they cant see a blue light they arent gonna see red very well either

hell even if someone modded the light to say KEEP GOING i would brake for it as it is in my path regardless of its color smile.gif

i know thats what it may be for, but i have never heard/seen anybody have an occurance where that has saved their door from being taken off...

hi wink.gif
had to explain but why dont you buys some neons fit one in where you can put pens or what ever its a gap next to the red light, put a neon in there drill a hole thought it, oh i know its a door card, fit the neon cables to the red light cables so when you open your door the red light will come on and the neon it would look cool, im doing it and ill post some pics to help what im trying to say.

1. glue neon into the doorcard holder thing
2. drill thought to red light and attach
thats it when you open your door the red and neon should come on. tongue.gif

Yeah, I've got the lights- and I have no clue what Nigel is talking about. There's a map pocket- but no place to hide a neon. Been looking for a spot for a while.

I think the base models only came with reflectors. mine is a fully loaded st and I have the lights.

did that about 3 years ago... I don't recomend doin it.. it starts to rattle after a month or so.. it also gets kinda annoying if you do hook it up to only come on when the door is open.

ill post pics of mine soon, This is what i did. I replaced the red lens with clear arcrylic panels. window panels. put a 194 Led blue bulb. Looks great. lights blue when the door opens. Also all my neon lights in the car are wired to the same bulb in the door and also a switch. so, when i click my alarm or open the door, all my neon lights inside come on. a total of 10 lights. Lots of blue. Also the neons are hooked to a switch so they can be turned on and off in demand. very easy wiring..

I made mine blue a while back. I just painted over the red lens, but the light didnt shine through as well and I didnt like the way it looked very much. Red just seemed to go better w/ my car which is red, even though all of my other interior lights are blue.
