It seems like there are many 6th gen owners who are into the looks(bodykit,etc..) more than performance maybe becuse it is cheaper, right?

On the other hand, I think about 90% of you guys would get a supra instead of you got the money as it appears so. Yet you guys say you love the Celica. "I would buy a Supra but..i still love my Celica."...Hmmm i wonder what the really means deep down.

Wellz, i hope i didn't sound too harsh. Just wanting to express my thoughts to ya'll. GoodNite.

I think that you are right about the bodykit thing. It is less expensive and I would say that most people buy that and rims very first because they want their car to look like a million bucks then later they make it run like a million bucks. That's what I did. Most people in the world will never know the difference between an ST-GT-GT-4. But they do see a nice car with great looks. Everytime I go to Hy-Vee or Wal-Mart or something like that, there is always some little kid(s) saying whoa is that a race car, wow that's cool! I haven't once got anyone (besides so obvious car lovers like myself) saying whoa is that a GT? That's a 98 right? Those things handle pretty good too don't they? Too bad they never brought over the GT-4.

That is just my opinion. Maybe someone has different experience.

well a while back i posted the question "Looks or Performance?" I also agree that most people go with the looks cause it's cheaper then doing engine work and everthing that goes with that.

I'm not really into putting on body kits and rims cause it's cheaper...i would just rather have the outside looking nice than have a killer engine and the car be a P.O.S. on the outside.

I love the supra and i do want one...but the car i always wanted was the celica. I always wanted something tight that i could fix up and make the way i really wanted...

I've only wanted 2 cars and i have one already...NOw i just gotta get a viper somehow...

i don't know how everyone else feels but that's what i think...
good observation tho No0bOne

Nicely put. I went show first and now I'm diving into my engine. I guess like igotta5S-FEturbo said, the kids and people alike do the "Oooh and AAh" thing when they see my car, even broke a couple necks the other day. Still I want to back up the looks with the speed, because I know one thing I AM NO RICEBOY mad.gif . But for the time being I'm all show but that will only last till the income tax comes in. I have a list already made and I will fill it biggrin.gif . Then my car will be the way I want it.

But heres a good question: What happens when our cars are the way we want them? What then?

You are correct...my next car will more than likely be a Supra. The only thing that's gonna stop me is finding one in this area. But yeah, I like fast cars, if thats what you're getting at, and unfortunately our cars are not fast unless you mod them...

once you are 'done' with your car, and get bored with it, you will sell it and find something else to fix up. thats the way it goes.

and re: the supra comment. sure I want a supra, but I can't afford it. for the money I spent on my celi, its the nicest damn car period.

well this is how i look at it
1. yes, body work is usually cheaper than engine work (depends how far you go however)
2. theres a heck of a lot more bodyshops than there are performance shops, so geting stuff done for you is alot easier with body work
3. because of #2, most people i see here dont have the knowladge/talent/want to get into their engine bay by themselves and do all the work.
4. people do body work and claim they will do engine later.... theres alot of us in this category wink.gif

what happens in my case, when my car is finished, she goes to my shop's showroom (that i will own smile.gif ) and i will begin saving money for project car #2, im hopeing is an RX-8.... but we all know how that goes lol.

backup plan... sell it to a shop/mag/company. personally id never sell it out on the open market b/c chances are the person who buys it will just be looking for an easy way to get a cool car and have no concept of how to handle/troubleshoot it, however if some1 wants it that CAN troubleshoot/handle it than by all means its theirs.

BACKUP backup plan... run it till she dies, sell her for parts and move on frown.gif

EDIT: needed a spellcheck

We all want a faster car. The trouble is we also want a good looking car. I did the easiest two things i could do to get speed. My first two mods were intake and exhaust. Now I am going to do body and my inside until I get the money to do an engine and trans swap. (that's when I get out of college)

Or you could always get a nice show car and a nice fast car. I'm hopin to get a 77 malibu classic with a 305 engine, those are pretty fast and they look nice too. Then I'll keep doin stuff to make my celica look and sound good and probably just a couple mods for performance.

What happens if our cars are the way we want them?

I've planned to store it in a 5 space garage. With pride I'll probably have nothing but worth-having unique fixed up imports. I'd have to be rich to do that though haha. Than i can just cruise with any car i feel like driving.

In my opinion, to catch the audiences attention a car not only it has to be good looking but also faster than its looks. Without speed the driver with looks won't feel so good when challenged. Just imagine the whole crowd lookin at your car VSing another car that you know you'll lose to because you're slow. All in all, those with looks are almost always looked down upon by fast cars.

On a sidenote, YOU BETTER BACK THAT *BLEEP* UP! wink.gif

I love my car standard. Well....maybe with a new intake.......but anything that will not hurt resale value or incur high maintenance or compromise engine reliability....I'm a poor b*st*rd rolleyes.gif
But YES I will get a supra if I have money. Although selling the celica will be a VERY though decision, don't you think?

There you go....I'm honest.

I guess your really never done, but I know I won't sell it. My car is paid off biggrin.gif and runs like a dream. Plus I just got my springs today and the roof spoiler is traveling, headers not far behind, etc., etc., etc.

I love my car. Its the first that I ever moded. It has sentimental value tongue.gif

I think a main reason is because there's only so much you can do with a 5-sfe. If you truly want power in a celica, you have to get a 3-sgte. At the same time, you can get a killer show car because it's so beautiful. So in the long run, it's easier.
