Alright, you know how when you get a cd player w/o the sub then it doesn't recognize the fact that there's the sub there but when you get a sub you're supposed to program the deck for the sub? I think you do it for most all modern decks. I just installed my sub and it sounds damn good, but I'm not getting enough power to it to realize it's maximum potential and I think it's because I haven't programmed my deck.
-Anyone know if there's a general way to program the deck and get to the "secret" menu that has the sub feature to turn on and off?
I'd check my manual for it, but I have misplaced it for the time being.

In order for your deck to send a signal just to your subs, you have to (1) have the specific outputs on the back of the deck for the sub controls (2) you have to know where the menu is lol. Usually its just like an RCA jack on the back of the deck but has sub labels on it. That plugs into your amp and it sends a specified signal just for the bass level on the sub. Its sorta like one of those controllers you mount like under your seat or on the dash to adjust bass levels.

yea, what he said. Just hit the menu button till you see subwoofer or something, and then u can turn up the output on that a bit. I wouldnt do too much all at once, try a little bit, play some music, and tinker with it. You'll find you'll like different levels for different music and such. Also, if you cd player doesnt have subwoofer output, then basically u just turn up the gain or whatnot on your amplifier and adjust by turning up the bass and stuff, but cd players like that blow. I cant even think of many that dont have pre amp sub outputs, and all the cd players i have owned have pre amp front, rear, and sub outputs (3 sets). Makes wiring even more fun wink.gif

yea, see mine has preamp front and rear, but it doens't have a preamp sub output. And this is a nice Kenwood deck to. (a couple years old, but still) I mean, you'd think it'd have the sub control. But I guess, from what it sounds like, if you don't have the preamp sub RCA then you don't have the special sub control, am I right?

okay then just plug it into the rear and use your amp to set the gains and bass boost.

Some decks that only have front and rear still have sub controls. When the sub mode is on the rear output becomes your sub out. Go to the kenwood site and download the manual.
