I'm looking for a 194 socket assembly.... one that I can just drill a hole and twist in. Or something to that effect.

I'd try RadioShack. If they don't have it then try a local electronics dealer(not electronics as in dvd players, the type of place that carries resistors and the like).

Any auto parts store should have multiple types of sockets for a 194 bulb, around $2 to $5, they even should have a buyers guide catalog with pics if you dont see what you want in stock. Or clip some off a car at a salvage yard, almost every car made since 1968 will have some,,,
