Im assuming that you arent from North America- some of the names of the paint and the codes dont match up with the names and codes of the colors here in the states... not a bad thing, just makes proper ID for US cars a lil more tricky rolleyes.gif for instance, Super Red Clearcoat is called Rennisance Red here in the states...

The names are irrelevant. The important information is the color code, which anyone can easily obtain from the dealer. The names that Toyota gives their color will be DIFFERENT than what you see in a paint company's paint book. The name's that are in the paint book are generally generic. For example, the Dupont, PPG, and Glacerit names for my color is totally off from the actual name of my paint job color.

Again, names are irrelevant (i.e. the Perfect Blue's name that everyone argues over).

i just pointed that out for people who diddent see their color "name" on the list- if you have a red car and need touch-up paint, its pretty hard to figure out which one of the four possible paint codes you need when the factory names arent listed for your color. Same goes if you walk into a dealer and say its red, then you get asked "ok, which red is it?"

Celica 612: My car is a 94 ST and looks to be the same color. Paint code is 3L2 and its actually called renissance red not Super Red. You can go to the dealer and get the info. Thats where i got mine and some touchup paint and it is the exact color.

some more useful info
Toyota and Lexus color codes generally start with the prefix "C/TR" and the code will be three digits long, followed by more info.
Ex. CTR202/LA09. 202 will be the color code. Your location will always be in the drivers door jamb.

If your going to order paint i'd go with www.paintscratch.com because when you order if you give them your VIN #,which they ask for, they check to see if your car was repainted at any point and they also check to make sure you have the right paint code.

for same paint code?

The first 3 characters on the bottom line of your VIN plate on the bulkhead in the engine bay give you your Toyota paintcode.

A PPG paint store can make you a spray or a touchup bottle. ^^

Does anyone know how these break down? The first digit is the color class.
0 for white 1 for silver tones 2 for black 3 for red and so on. Does any one know what the other
2 are for or why the middle is somtimes a number or letter. Help me crack the code and I'll
buy you a slurpee.jk

I believe the last two just tell how new or old the color is. http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/stepho/colour.htm

example:

601 is the oldest green color
then came 611, 614, 621, etc
then on to 6A1..., 6C3..., 6M1..., 6P3..., 6S9..., 6U0...

so 6P3 is a newer green than 6M1

...do I get a slurpee now? biggrin.gif

Heck no. laugh.gif I have a coworker that has a 2002 Tundra with 6p2.
It is very close to 6p3 but not exactly. I dunno. It's almost like a graph
that show hue and saturation. red green blue. cwm13.gif

Baltic Blue Metallic (752)

but that doesn't really look like it, the stock color is usually a bit darker

From what I found it takes about 2 gallons, maybe 3 to get a good coat on the car. It takes about 1 coat of primer to do a car though so I don't see why 1 gallon wouldn't cover a car. Maybe not the best but I don't see why not.

EDIT: Looked a tthe site too, it says basecoat only. So I would assume a clear is needed. Thus why they give you some to look at when you choose the paint.

Found a pretty cool link that shows color codes for all GEN Celicas. It shows pics as examples. Glad to find this because I'm planning on getting a full paint job in the near future. smile.gif

And other Toyota/Scion/Lexus Cars/Trucks/SUVs. XD

Thats because it is in the U.S. The ST has the 1.8 liter 7A-FE and the GT has the 2.2 liter 5S-FE.
