I challenged my friend's brother, who has a souped up civic hb si to a duel.
What are my odds of winning?? His car is a stick, and my car is an automatic st.

The guy told me he smoked a camaro, integra ls, wrx, and a rx7.

I believe in the power of this CAR!!!!!! When i said i can beat his bro's car, him and his gay cousin laughed at me. Ill have it on video! but first i want to know my odds of winning so i dont look stupid

What do you mean SOUPED up? Rice or perfomance wise? If its a 5speed then your gonna lose. If both of you are automatics then it depends on a driver. my .02 biggrin.gif

i dont think ur odds of winning are very good. si's are light and moderately faster than their non-si civic counterparts, and the fact that ur celi is an automatic and an ST isn't gonna help, especially if he has more mods done. frown.gif

you are CRAZY. Let me defend for you! Imma seriously f*ck up them clueless laughers. I'll leave them in dusts they won't even know what just hit them. Pssh,..a civic hb SI. SO WHAT?

your odds of winning is nowhere near close but i think it would be best to take him on a race of dangerously twisted turns(in my favor).

anyways, since the civic is also a fwd what are the handling differences between that and a celica? confused.gif

FYI: I've been having alot of fun taking turns @high speeds lately and on some sharper turns that require me to take it @a slower speed just about enough to slide as i exit the corner/turn with more gas. Is it bad for a FWD to do that? I'm not trying to drift btw, just wanting to have fun with fast-speed turning with extra focus and caution.

If you seriously want to beat him, you have to lighten you car up, and race him through some sharp S curves. Hopefully the severe understeer of the civic will slow him up a bit. Granted, you are banking on the fact that he sucks at driving or that he wants to show off at the beginning and goes into the turns to fast and comes out dead. Also, in turns it eliminates his ability to use the nitrous that he probably has and since the v-tech doesn't kick in till 4000 rpms it will work like a regular engine through reduced speed turns.

I believe in a celica as much as the next guy but seceriously man use your head! dont start talking **** if you know your going to loose man. I agree with everyone else your only hope for beating him is to take him through the turns (if your a good driver) if only you had stick and could downshift throught the turns... oh well get ready to look like an ass for talking **** dude! Sorry but its true. Just be a good sport about the lose and shake the dudes hand when its over man. no one likes a poor looser.

Oh and next time think before you race! biggrin.gif thumbsdown.gif

Well guys, coincidently i live near him and have got a chance to meet and know him. It was cool and everything. Okay now that is through on to the next thing!:)

I would love to race them fools in a twisting match but can be risky to give it a try because an accident may occur such as swirving into one another during a turn or figuring out how to pass the one that is ahead of us. Ya know what i'm saying?

PaulGT, sometimes it is hard to let go the pride and lose the name and getting laughed at and looked down upon even more. Therefore, I think i should just go in and give that SI a wack in the head because i think them dumb $bling bling$ fools who think their cars are fast are just nutheads with a screw to be screwed. I'm not talking about all, but most that i've gotten to know on the streets. Are you saying he's a loser?

I ain't letting nobody make fun of my friend simply because others may have hurt his feelings. Now, if he wasn't thinking that might be a different story however...
Indeed our celica's won't win on a straightway in this case but its ability in handling can make up for it. Speed ain't everything we all know that. So lets take this onto the next level of andrenaline.

Now, I think i'm getting way too out of hand.

if its the new si with the b16 motors than you have no chance, but if your talking bout the old hatchback si such as the 92-95 then you might have a chance.

Im not sayin hes a loser, i am saying hes going to lose against a civic Si. I like to see other people stand up for celicas dude...but seceriously my one pet peve is people saying that People can kick some corvette or cobra ass when all there runnin in a Geo...ya know what im sayin? It just reminds me of a civic owner when people say "oh ill take you"...just to sound hard. I freekin hate civics! My friend with an ex chalanged me when i got my car and he was talking all kinds of crap. I said...ill race ya, and got beat. I felt like a jacka$$. I just dont want anyone else to do the same. But that inspired me do hook up my car...i got an intake and an exhaust and took him to the track and beat him!

ok if is an SI then it has the vtec engine so everyone stop asking that. Also 1 winged angel the vtec is the name of the engine so it will kick in at all rpms because the engine doesn't appear at 4000 rpms. maybe the most power that it can put out is at 4000 rpms.

And as for the original question. You will lose if it a drag race. And a paint job and rims is not souped up. So like everyone said race him on a curve and cut his brake line. Then when he crashes go rescue him out of his car and everyone will be talking about you like you are god. You might even be on TV. Which is good. Helps get the ladies.

hell an EX will probably owned.gif ST's

nope only the 99-00 Civic Si had the B16A2 engine. It goes like this:

89-91 Si - Hatchback - SOHC D16A6 - 108hp/100tq
92-95 Si - Hatchback - SOHC D16Z6 - 125hp/106tq
99-00 Si - Coupe - DOHC B16A2 - 160hp/111tq
02-?? Si - Hatchback - DOHC K20A - 160hp/(134tq - if i remember correctly) same engine as the base RSX but with less torque.

Now if this guy "says" he smokes camaros, wrx's, and bla bla bla, he would need to have (assuming he has the 92-95 Si hatch) at least a B18C1 (GS-R) swap and some nice work done to it (FI??).

Well if you race him, good luck. Even if he has the stock SOHC, he can still edge you out since he has a manual.

Well....... The v-tech was made as an economy/performance engine. Basically under 4000 rpms it acts as any other economy engine, but the vtech at higher rpms shoves much more gas and air into the engine making it accelerate faster. The tradeoff however is that past 4000, the car guzzles gas. So...keeping with Soichiro Honda's philosophy and roots of the economy Honda 50 cub and supercub motorbikes. The V-tech engine is pretty much a perfect blend of economy and power for the regular street. Racing through reduced speed turns however is a different story because you don't let the engine hit high rpms and you need something that performs on both ends.

hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
This is my going to be my last race. If i lose to another product from honda, I am not going to race again. I am going to focus on making my ride a pimp mobile and drive across the bus stop where people get to glance at my exotic car.

Another question:
I used 87 octane gas. I heard people say that if you use 91 octane gas, the car will go alot faster. So with the 91 octane level, will my car even have a chance????? The guy has a 92-94 civic hb

he has more power than you plain and simple. I would wait to race

ok ok. i have read all the posts and input of the other members and thought about it........and.........youre not gonna win. if this is a true Si, and you have an automatic st, youre toast. the hatchback Si is the lightest civic that i can think of. vtec is a pretty good power component. it really doesnt have anything to do with fuel as i read someones reply. vtec is an electronic component that can activate different lobes on the camshaft and change the cam's timin'. well, i say put the bottle on the ST and spank him and he wont know what hit em'. theres my $.02

5th gen hb is what your friend have. They are meant to be engine swapped so if he hasn't done that than I think you'll have a chance. Specs say that it runs 16.8s in a 1/4 mile. I don't know about what ours(st and gt) run. Take note that the SI is also the heaviest of cx,vx,dx.

Have you seen the hb before? Tell us if he has a tachmeter okay? On a positive side, I doubt that his shift timing is good. Just act all retarded to make him show off his cars speed for you to see. The main purpose of that is to see If he peels out just a little bit going from first to second..than i would fear that.

Actually it is very possible to win, but the odds are not in his favor.
It depends on mods to the 7a and/ or driver error on his part.
vtec is nothing special. all it is is electronic valve timing, you
have the same thing except its mechanical. weights of the
cars are very similar and you cant have driver error w/ an at.
you need to have more faith in your cars. dont let an si scare you.
Remember you bought a Toyota not a honda.

well, What I would do would be to spend the whole day of the race stripping my car of everything you don't need, like that article in scc, also depending on how much this race means to you, drain your bank account, start with some nitrous and a cai, for some power gains and go from there,, he probably won't expect you to pull up to the line with a celica frame with no battery and no windshields. but realistically you will lose, unless you do all of the above, good luck and may the force be with you

Mr7AFE, a honda is fast too...out of 50 there's prob 1 god for them.

jayi12-15psi, nitrous? no.. cai? no..

hioctane, ...hey just back off and let em laugh at ya for now. I know it is hard to do that but i'm sure that it is for a good cause in the long run. Trust me on that. I went from slow in the beginning to unimagineably fast in the end winning huge amount of money bets after bets...it's like converting their shame+laugh+putdown into money for you.

I was merely looking for power gains that require a short install time, there are many other mods that can be done for more power but if he wants power to win now, why not start with nitrous and cai?

Haha yeah, that was hilarious, it was like in cartoons where they throw off the body, the seats, etc, and are left w/ 4 wheels, the floor, the steering wheel, and the engine.

Why don't you just buy the $300 nitrous kit that's on the buyand sell part of this page? Then you would monkey stomp him.
