The light on the dash that show when you have the E-brake pulled won't go off. It stays on constantly whether I have the E-brake pulled or not. I can't even set my cruise control because of it. Has this happened to anyone before, or does anyone know how I can fix it?

could be the switch for the e brake. or your fluid level could be low.

I had that problem about six months ago, turned out to be a loose connection. Just took off my center console and played with the wires for a little bit, made sure everything was connected and the problem was solved.

If it doesn't feel like the e-brake is engaged at all when the handle is down and the light still stays on, then chances are really good that there's a loose connnection. It is most likely going to be where JKceli had heis problem so check that first.

How hard is it to get the center console out?

Check out the second paragraph of the how-to by Coomer. It tells you how to get those pieces off. You might not even have to take off all of them, it just depends on if you can get to the connections or not.

it's just two bolts inside of the center console box and two screws underneath the piece around the shifter.

i heard if your brakes get REAL down, that the light can come on then
but that was from my step-dad who has worked with cars for 15+ years and still doesn't know what the o/d button REALLY does

That light will also come on if you've got a leak in your system. Like a hydrolic line or the brake master cylinder. But if it was a leak you would problem notice it right away. And consynx had a point,if the shoes are sticking then the light will come on.

I agree. If you need new brakes it'll come on.

I appreciate all of the help, I'm just going to take it to a shop and have them look at it because it wasn't a loose connection under the console. Thanks for the advice.
