I was driving down to noobone's house to take some pictures of his celica. I notice lots of weird things about my celica. My 20% tire threads skided alot because it was also raining. I was at a traffic light, and i was at a complete stop, when the light turned green, i stepped on the gas and it felt like I losing control. My steering wheel was moving as if the tires were pointed towards the left side when i had the steering wheel straight to go forward. Just imagine yourself driving and you see a row of steep holes on the concrete and you drove through that row with your celica. It felt like that. My celica was shaking and vibrating.
I was extremely low on gas too. My gas bar indicator was on "E".
The car felt like it was losing control, not only once, but a few times.

What might be the problem????
Could it be the ABS system kicking in??? could someone explain how the abs works????
Could having very low gas be the problem???????
Could it be my shocks?????
Could it be my power steering???
Could it be lack of tire thread??????
Could it be the alignment of the car???

i would say the tires. but you might check your fluid level for the power steering. as far as abs cant tell you i dont have it. also i would check your struts and make sure theyre not blown. and i dont think being low on gas would cause this

When your car is low on gas there won't be any problems but the problem is when you're totally emtpy on gas is when your car kind of boggles a little bit than it won'te move anymore. The way FallenHero described is pretty much it. happend to me once..haha

burningcelica, his struts aren't blown yet. when a strut is blown then the car looks lowered. am i correct?

When i was in hioctanes car it felt like his front wheels are going different directions on each side. Also, is it safe to hold in the brake peddle and step on the gas? If so could that be done to test if his tires need to be replaced if it spins?

when a strut blows it wont always look lower because the spring is what controls your hieght. the strut is just a damper just like a shock. if the strut is blown you will be able to see oil around the strut. if the fornt wheels are going in diffrent directions then you got a serious problem.
ex. blown rack and pinion
broken tie rod- if this was the case though you wouldnt be able to even drive the car

If you punched on the gas pretty hard from the stop light while raining and your tread is low, your tires are going to feel like that. They are not gripping there road, therefore going from side to side causing the whole car to shake. This would be my guess, it doesnt sound very seriuos to me. If it was a blown rack and pinion or broken tie rod you'd know it by the sound it makes when attempting to drive it.

Most probably is your tires slipping on 1st gear. Just ease up on the gas when starting. You people in california don't know how to drive in rain or snow redface.gif

But the 6th celica is a very predictable car in snow. For winter fun, I would corner quickly on snow (in quiet streets), the car will slide, and I'd have to steer to get the car straight again. But yet , the car feels very in control.
