Excellent job. Excellent color. Excellent match with car color. Did you do it your self or did you had them done professionally? I was gonna do mine (originally c/f blackish) but they were asking $200. Did not go trough with it because the rims are heavy and bent in a few places so i saved the money for new ones.
I painted them my self (very bad work mind you). I was just experimenting with the color to match my leather interior and didn't go with a metalic color. What do you think?

I painted them myself. I sanded down all the curb rash and paint chips.

Hanyo - lol I was holding black paint in my hands at the store, I changed my mind at the last sec.

Neokils - just sanded them down a little and try to paint them.. Its not hard you just have to tape everything up nice and take ur time.

Thanks guys later

two coats of paint and two of clear.....
I used engine paint which dries really fast.

I'm gonna redo them next weekend to practice a little more. After figure out some more tricks, I'm gonna try a two tone set up.

uppity - my flowmaster can look however it wants, the sound that sad muffler makes is orgasmic tongue.gif lol

thanks guys

What I can tell you is to use soft sand paper, lightly sand out the rough spots on your wheels try to get it as smooth as possible. On the lip I used a medium grit then I used a soft grit to smooth out all the crub rash. I cant remember what grit I used sorry

painting - just lay the wheels down on the grass and spray them. I tryed to keep the passes as lights as possible. Whenever the paint ran I just wiped it off with a rag and did that spot over. definatly do light sprays

I did like two clear coats ...its kinda hard to tell. Spraying the clear coat was great cause the wheels became shiney and new again.

I post a pic later tonight of how I taped everything up.

Would it be much easier if i make a cardboard cone to fit around the lip of the rims rather than taping all that thing? What do you think? My rims need painting urgently as i made a very ugly job last time and currently i am a little low for new rims. (new custom rear and front lip, suspension parts, Vacations overseas)

it took five mins to tape the tire and you'll have a better result in the end. cutting card board seem like to much of a hassle.

I finally got the supplies together and quit being lazy. The wheels are being painted. Weather only cooperated with me long enough to get one 80% finished today, but the other 3 should be done tomorrow. Here are some in progress pics.

Before (cleaned up for painting though):

Once I get the clear on, they should look pretty good, imo. Right now I'm going to retain the silver lip, but if it looks dumb after I pull the masking off, I'll go ahead and make them all one color.

Thanks again for the tips, defgeph.

Thanks. The wheels look nice, especially with the silver lip. Once I can get the last wheels clear coated and it stops raining badly here, I'll post pics. I could've had them done today, but the AutoX here took precedence.

this is great ! I love to see all these wheels getting painted.

SCM looks great cant wait to see them mounted. I still have to redo mine, I've noticed some spots that I missed and some uneven areas.

SCM looks like gun metal you got there...... with the silver lip thats a great idea.

I'm having to repaint part of one wheel because I didn't spend enough time sanding that area and the paint didn't stick. I was in a hurry, bah. I'll post some pics once the wheel is properly finished.

I was worried how the lip would look, but once I saw the completed wheel I knew I had made the right decision by trying it. Now all I have to do is repaint the car and it'll look pretty much like I want it to, wheel gap notwithstanding.

when i first got my celica i wanted white rims on my white GT. Im new to this forum and thus this is the first time ive seen stock rims or n e rims refinished by the owner.

As of now i have stock chrome rims and im wondering whats teh best way to take off the chrome. (my rims look like the stock ones painted just with chrome plating)

oh and Digndoug i like the finish on the bronze. What kind of clear coat did you use if n e? was it like a flat gloss? I dont wnat my rims to be to glossy n e one have a suggestion on what finish i should use to get a semi flat/gloss look to the rims.
