Wow, I must be special to be having problems installing my new head unit... there was nothing useful on the search.

So I'm putting in the Alpine 9833 unit. It fits snugly between the OE mounting brackets but the screw holes (heh heh) don't line up. I had a mount kit shipped with the deck but it's crap and doesn't fit anyway.

Are there supposed to be top/bottom brackets for it to sit on? What's the deal?

.. THere IS a howto on this, thats why no one in the forums bothers posting about it.

The mount kit is for domestic cars, u dont need it. The Alpine screw holes should line up, they did on mine.. there's like, a billion screw holes you can use hehe just move it around a little.

Oh, how to's. Brilliant.

Now what'd be more brilliant is if the search queried those as well.

Heh, true... but it would cut down on unnecessary posts by idiots who can't read.

Now I've found inadequate discussion on the bracketage. The damn little bumps on the brackets are making the deck not fit. What's the deal?

I'm not sure what you're refering to- did you have a single pocket radio, or a double slot radio?

I had a single radio with the pocket underneath. The brackets have little bumps that I assume mark where the radio is supposed to slide into. The side of the new deck has grooves, but they don't match up with the brackets.

aim me? adenosin3P

If the new deck has a sleeve on it, you have to take that off.

Heh, yeah, took the sleeve off. It's all good now, took care of everything. There was some prying involved though smile.gif

Now to find CPU fans and an air filter to cool it... since I have no pocket... stupid stereo thieves.

Err, you need to cool it? Alpines run hot, but thats just the way they are. No need for aftermarket cooling for just a head unit.
