I have a 94 coupe. and every time i go over bumps it makes a weird clunking noise in the back. I have nothing in my trunk at all not even the spare tire. all i have back there is the carpet. And every time i get out of my car or shake my car in the back it makes a werid squeeking noise. Has any one else had this problem b4. and if so what did you do about it?

Thanks for the help.

this needs to be in the suspension forum ...........

Upper bushings in the rear, I had the same problem before. Quick and easy 20 dollar fix. It only comes from one side correct?

I had that with my car and it was a bad strut. The noise went away after I changed my suspension.

I believe you have to change your sway bar bushings and that should do it

I have a kind of clunking from the driver's side rear also. I just got my car aligned yesterday at Sears and they told me my sway bar link - not bushing - needed to be replaced. He described it as a "ball and socket" thing. They then quoted me a laughable price of $90 for the part and $40 for labor. I need to look into getting both sides replaced soon.

anyone have some info on this ?

Yes, it could be the sway bar bushings (most likely), Sway bar End Link, or the strut. I have had this same problem. I replaced the struts and it still made the noise so i replaced the rubber sway bar bushings (4$ each, need two) and that was it!

The first thing i would replace would be the bushing because they are only like 4$ each at advanced auto parts.

Also, the end links are 48$ at advanced auto parts. Thats the cheapest place i could find them.

sway bar

and just like bufferdan said - its a cheap fix. If it is bushings, you should be able to go to the bad side and press on the fender and bouce it to cause noise. Just a squeek.

I had something like this, and it took me forever to find that the tail light was making the noise. Loose connection.
