I went to the track last night and got 7 runs in. Here's my runs in order

17.15 @80 Beat cavlier z24 that talked **** all night to me.
16.93 @79 got owned by a hotrod chevy that run a 13.4
16.76 @80 raced my buddy's accord, won
16.90 @79 raced a old beaten sentry, that ran a 17.9
16.89 @80 got beat by my buddy with the accord. he ran 16.777
16.89 @79 owned a fiero
16.94 @79 got owned by vtec 14.26

I my blown rear struts are keeping me from my mid 16s. I'm checking timing and compression thursday night. I also dropped tire pressure for those runs and launched from 4000 to 4500. Maybe I'll be back out friday night. I have video too, ill try to post but have no idea how. any idears?

An ST with a 16.1!!!!!!!!!!

Dammit .... I just put away my BS flag too

Let me share some STOCK 1/4 times (remember these cars are from the factory stripped down with no a/c and what not)

94 Celica GT - 16.4
99 Grand Am GT - 15.9
95 240SX SE - 16.1
95 Eclipse GS - 16.6
01 Cougar V6 - 16.1
99 Civic Si - 15.7
97 Civic EX - 16.6
93 Probe GT - 15.8
03 Stratus R/T - 15.9
94 Integra GS-R - 15.5

and these where stripped.... so your 16.1 beat all of these?

EDIT: 16.7 with an rookie driver and a 10yr old car - GREAT JOB Slow

There's this lovely thing called below and above Sea level...You will get Faster times on the east coast. Ask anyone who has ran their car at the Epping Dragstrip in NH and then Ask that same person what their time was in Cali..BIG diff.
Also, I was having 89Mph 1/4 Miles.

My dying and pretty much stock ST ran a 17.7 in the quarter mile. I didn't think a stock ST is capable of a 16.1. What was your trap speed on that run? I know that John Dolocek runs 15.9 second passes in his ST, but he works on race cars and knows his stuff and his car isn't stock.

you want us to believe that in new hampshire you get nearly a 1second and a half better 1/4mile then you do in the what like 35 other states that are'nt on the east coast? and i understand the air quality but i mean really a 16.1 in a stock st.

*sigh* I guess I will have to try and dig up some time slips. Before the Celica, I used to build and race rally cars...I put one into a tree at 65mph and broke several bones...After that I took racing more seriously and practiced launching...I can outlaunch almost any car.

I raced in Indiana. The weather was nice, not too humid, probably 75 degrees out. Also, the track I race at is prepped very poorly. Or so I'm told by just about everyone. My motor also has 101k miles on it. I haven't fully learned how to drag race yet, (yes, there's more to it then launch and slam the gas) maybe i beed to feather the throttle more during wheel spin/hop.

16.1? on an ST? I've love to see some 60" times and trap speeds.

As far as video goes, they're not even on my computer yet, still on buddies's vid cam. So gimme awhile. I think there's a video of a hayabusa popping a wheelie all the way down the track, or most of it. Didn't see it, just heard.

a ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha.

Hey guys sorry for laughing but you are having arguments about your ST celis times and i find it hilarious. Well i thought i would share this with you. Stock 1/4 mile for the GT4 is 14sec flat. We don't have race tracks at my country but i think my JDM GT4 with some weight reduction, 100 ron fuel and my Apexi exhaust (that i got from neverstop and finally put on yesterday) i am sure i must run about low 13s atleast.

those times I gave were in Florida. Thats on the east coast you know.

Next you'll be saying you have 20.5" rims because you needed the traction to beat your friends viper in the twisties.

EDIT: Shid knows what he is talking about. I wouldn't try to "internet battle" or whatever the kids call it on him. Sea level...1 sec difference. heh

Oh no, it's a GT4 ricer! Honestly, that exhuast added a few hp I'm sure. And would you strip out to make it lighter? I'll go on a guess, hatch, rear seats? 100oct fuel? It's all fine and dandy and will kick you some more kick, but a whole second off? Come on, you own a GT4, you should know better

Haha, I wish. My local strip (hosts NHRA runs too) is only open on Tuesday 5:30-11:30. Sometimes Friday night.

I just checked my timing, and it was 6 degrees retarted. So I advanced her to a nice 10 degrees where she should be. Feels better. Maybe I'll run tommarow night and see if I can break 16.7

firstly i started the post by saying that thereisn't an official track in my country so you can understand that 1/4 miles ain't even my thing. I can't understand why you are so quick to call me a ricer. low 13s from flat 14 is less than a sec but thats not the point. making it lighter is standard practice isn't it.I made it lighter to save on registration fees (remove passenger seat and replaced it with just a foam seat and i put on some very light 17's) and the car was noticeably faster.

before you call someone a ricer you could firstly check the times some gt4s are making.

neo, I dont doubt for a second GT4's can be quick. The 3s is a great engine. But how weight do you honestly think you saved by pulling out backseats and lighter wheels. I'll give ya 50-75. They say 100lbs in .01 secs in the quarter mile. You're telling me you can feel that?

Nitrous isnt hooked up yet, but once I get get koni''s paid off, I can afford to have my bottle filled.

You know - all of you know-it-alls suck. I personally believe that those times are possible even in an ST. Your skill as a driver can make our "slow" cars much faster than they would be with a driver with no skill. When I posted my happiness with my new intake everybody laughed and joked because I could actually feel a significant increase in performance (note: I did not say increase in HP or Torque - I said performance). Everyone said "it just sounds faster...Ha Ha Ha...Blah Blah Blah". I know for a fact my car is much faster than it was stock and it has everything to do with the parts I have put on it and the fine tuning I have done to my engine. Another thing, when I posted how I pulled on a turbo Del Sol three lights in a row - nobody believed it. Everybody acted like that wasn't possible. First off I stated in my first post that I knew it was not v-tech and that it was a cheap ass turbo kit that they put on there and the guy could not shift for ****. When you add the fact that my car ('GT Manual w/ 50k miles and lightly modified) was being driven by someone who has owned 5 Celicas in a row with a Supra thrown in there (me) you guys should be able to see that I know my car better than some 18 year old with a POS 10year+ Honda who's been driving for what 2 years tops? That makes more difference than all the fancy intercooler setup and whatever you could buy. The last point I will make is that some cars seem to be lemons and every once in a while you will get a car that is the opposite extreme. Some cars just are better put together than some that were produced on the exact same assembly line. That can also have a big effect on a cars ability to out perform cars that should be faster.
So - if his car was an anti-lemon and he has some experience racing his car and he has put some of those expensive performance parts on that "just improve the sound" then maybe he can out perform what is expected of him. Maybe you people should instead start asking yourself why is my car so slow - instead of claiming all ST's are as slow as your ST.

BTW - if our cars are so slow and there is nothing we can do to change that except swap in a 3S-GTE then everyone on here without a 3S is a complete moron for wasting the kind of money we all do on a car that will always be "slow". Personally - I'm not an idiot but I think some of you are.

You know - all of you know-it-alls suck. I personally believe that those times are possible even in an ST. Your skill as a driver can make our "slow" cars much faster than they would be with a driver with no skill.

BTW - if our cars are so slow and there is nothing we can do to change that except swap in a 3S-GTE then everyone on here without a 3S is a complete moron for wasting the kind of money we all do on a car that will always be "slow". Personally - I'm not an idiot but I think some of you are.

I agree with some parts... but everything you've said is in your opinion... and however much you believe it, it doesn't mean everyone will take your word for it. You may feel your car is fast... but that all depends on what your opinion of fast is. Exaggeration is always prominent and NOTHING is certain without real-world testing. It's not hard to just say things... so you gotta be able to back it up somehow, beyond simply asking people to take your word for it. I'll be one to say right now, our cars do what they're designed to do... and those who try and street-race with these cars, when equipped with these motors just don't understand what these cars are. They're designed to look fast... but technically speaking... they're slow (only as fast as trucks and vans at best). Road and Track in 1995 rated the Celica GT in the 1/4 mile at 16.4 under a professional driver. ANYONE that claims to hit better than that, are either mildly modified, or using the butt-meter and a stopwatch... Those who only "claim" are even less believeable... All in all, no matter how good the driver is... there is no way for the driver to make the car out-perform its maximum capability. The car has limits... and a driver cannot push the car beyond that. That's why people don't believe things like, "I can run 16's STOCK!" when EVERYONE else is running 17's and 18's... it's technically not probable... not impossible, but for the most part, highly highly improbable, especially when the "claimee" tends to sound completely unknowledgable about these sorts of things.

Finally... our cars are slow... no matter how you look at it... unless you consider minivans and full-sized trucks fast, which in many cases, are faster than our cars. In closing... you have to choose your words more carefully... EVERYONE that says these cars are slow, DO NOT refer to the car in general. The car itself doesn't go fast... the engine makes the car go... The ENGINE is what makes these cars slow... so your final argument is meaningless... A 3SGTE will make these cars sub 13 second cars on stock boost, assuming you have the skill to launch the car... that'll basically make them almost as fast as Corvettes... which is pretty fast...
