It will make it rev more quickly, which means better throttle response. It will also make the car harder to start from a stop. It is a lighter rotating mass, which makes it easier to stall.

Yes... a Stock Celica will lose to a Stock Celica with a light flywheel...

So as an example in 0-60mph, how fast does the Celica with lighter flywheel faster than the stock Celica??
1s or even 1.5s??

No way would it be that much of a difference. It will just give the car a more responsive feel and slightly better acceleration. Probably not worth it unless you're going to go pretty in depth to get some performance numbers out of your car.

It transfers more hp to the wheels because the engine has to rotate less mass.

A flywheel does not increase the hp your engine puts out- it allows for more hp to the wheels, and faster rev cycle... SO, you can get up to that peak rpm faster; and have more hp on the ground.

It does nothing to increase the power in your lower rpm range- which many people think it does. It just rockets you through the lower rpm range

Your car will be faster once it's moving, but whether or not it's worth it is kind of a toss-up. I don't like my JUN lightweight flywheel at all. It's 9 lbs. compared to the stock 18, and is far too light for the street. I have to rev up the car to around 1,600 RPM or so before I can go from a stop or the car shudders and shakes really badly. My car is also slower off the line with the 4A-GE and the lightweight flywheel than it was with the 7A-FE and the stock flywheel.

So hopefully tonight or tomorrow night my OEM flywheel and new clutch kit are going into my car. smile.gif I'm just horribly sick of the lightweight flywheel.

Would you suggust a middle weight - like 11lbs? I was thinking this but I've really never driven a car with a lightweight flywheel before. I'm very unsure of the advantages/disadvantages of it.

Yeah I am...Assuming I don't absolutely hate how much slower the car is without it, I'm going to sell it. I'll send you a PM once I pull the flywheel out of the car. smile.gif

fly wheel doesnt make that difference that one car can pass other. and doesnt worth money that you are goin to pay. and its unconfortable when drivin at low rpms.
here is a discustion form that you can learn advantages and desadvantages of light weight fly wheel.
