After paying a redicleous 788 to get a new clutch and a oil change my car won't start. I picked up my car from the shop today. I was excited because my clutch was worn out for 6 months and i could barley do the speed limit. i drove to the mall and back. when i got home i drove down the street to the store and back. after letting the car sit in the drive way for 3 hours i started it up and low and behold it wouldent start. WTF. The car won't turn over. My deep cycle optima batterie is fine 12.84v. I checked all the fuses that i could see. the car makes no noise when i try to start it not even the dead battery sound. can anyone help me please. i am calling the place i got the car fixed tomarrow first thing in the morning. the only problem is that the car is too low and won't fit on a tow truck unless i raise the suspension what fun

Also it could be a loose battery connection or blown some fuses.

He said his battery is putting out 12.8 volts. Check your cables and make sure they are on tight maybe jiggle them a little and try it then.

If the engine isn't even turning over, and you power is all hooked up correctly, it is almost certainly the starter. Its not the alt; you dont need the alt to turn over the engine, only to power the car once you have already started.
I supposed its possible that the new cluch somehow is impeding the turning of the engine, but that is very unlikely. |

If everything is hooked up correctly on your battery. Take a hammer and tap on the side of your starter.

Thats what i would say. Are you getting a click sound when you turn the key? If you are then its not the clutch safety switch. It would probably be the starter selinoid on the starter. -------------------- ![]() |

I would check to make sure that the clutch is disengauging. You might be able to see the top of the fork on the st, I'm not sure. On the 5s, its in the top front of the transmission with a boot covereing the end, and will have a little cylinder connected to it, with a hard line that runs back to toward the fire wall.
Check grouding and make sure they connected them all again. I can't remember how many there should be, but probably one from the transmission and starter. Check clutch switch, its at the back of the clutch pedal. just disconnect the connect and hook it to an ohm meter. Have someone step on the clutch and fully depressed you should get continuity, and when the release the pedal an open circuit. |
