Ok, what you have to do first is remove the plastic surround from the base of the gear stick - it just un-clips. You can't remove it completely though, just loose.
Then you should be able to see the base of the centre console trim, there are 2 screws that you need to undo. Now carefully pull the centre console trim panel forward . It is just clipped in place. The vents come off with the panel but stay attached to it. Watch out for the hazard light and clock which will need unplugging from the console when it is half way out. With the trim out you will now see the 4? bolts that hold the stereo in place. Good luck. ![]() This post has been edited by Tony-94: Mar 2, 2003 - 10:46 AM -------------------- Facelift bumper-foglights-clear indicators, clear side repeaters, 16in O.Z alloys, stainless steel grill. Removing the trim panel and taking the old stereo out is easy. I think the hardest part will be fitting the new radio because the gen 6 radio doesn't conform exactly to the normal DIN fitting used by almost every car. It wont slot in as easy as the Toyoya unit did and might need to adapt the new stereo's cage or mounting brackets. It is possible though.
(BTW You don't need to unplug the hazard or clock from the panel but it gives you more space to work in.) -------------------- Facelift bumper-foglights-clear indicators, clear side repeaters, 16in O.Z alloys, stainless steel grill. True enough. Also, when you get the regular DIN unit in place, it fits beautifully.

It's strange, because when I tried to fit a single din head unit the radio was too wide to fit through the center console panel. It wouldn't fit 'underneath' the console panel properly either and just looked really untidy
