Hey i found this cold air intake what do you think?
http://www.autopartsauthority.com/cold_air...njen~parts.html For those who have cold air and short ram, which is better? And are there any problems with either. thanks |

The S-shaped injen intake looks good. It's not a cold air intake tho. If you want to dress up your engine bay, buy it. If your just going for HP gains, wich will not be much, get a hi-flow air filter from TRD. It's cheaper and it gets the same gains as the aftermarket intake.

Click on the pictures and it will show what each is.
EDIT: CAI is a tube with a filter at the end under your car. Like the first link I posted. An intake has the filter located inside you engine bay, by the battery. This post has been edited by LatinKraze: Aug 25, 2004 - 2:51 PM |

So what do you suggest the CAI that you linked me, the short ram that you linked me, the weapon R, or the Injen?

Its your call dude. They both have ups and downs.
The CAI: Better Hp gains, but can cause a problem when it rains (installing a breather helps). The Injen Intake: Less Hp gains, no risk of hydrolock, has the same gain as a drop-in hi-flow air filter by TRD (which is cheaper). |

Id like to go with the CAI for better gains but im worried about hydrolock. What do i need to intall a breather i dont know much about that. And are there any other remedies to prevent hydrolock w/ CAI. thanks man

Unless the filter of your CAI gets completely submerged(and you'd have to drive through a pretty huge puddle to do so), you don't have to worry about hydrolock. Installing a breather is easy, and basically entails cutting the pipe closer to the intake manifold, and inserting a breather, or bypass valve into it.

Some bypass valves only need a hole drilled on the side to fit. I'll find a pic somewhere.

So i would have to cut the pipe at the intake manifold to make room for this small piece?
