any one seen one or has done one??? the talk about this combo is it can be builted to make more than 600hp. All the parts needed are most of the same parts for the 5sfte + the 3SGTE head, intakemanifold, & wire harnese.

I met somebody on the street ( dunno if he was bull****ting or not ) that claimed he has a 5SGE.. which would be a 5S bottom end, and a 3SGE head.
It wasn't all that great, i was able to keep up with him (and pull on him at one point) in my AUTO ST. When he hit about 3rd gear, that's when he would pull on me. He was driving an old sleeper camry (the older, boxy looking ones) with a TRD sticker on the side and an exhaust. |

this is an incredible peice of work on an mr2
Here are pics from my current engine rebuild. It will be a hybrid 5SGE, using the 2.2 litre bottom end off of the 5SFE and the head from a 3SGTE |

Not wrong, and Jim actually ended up going turbo if I remember correctly. Either way, an n/a 5SGE build with those pistons is gonna be crap. Why? 8:5:1 compression pistons n/a is not gonna make any serious power. The site was probably done when he was still considering an n/a 5SGE build... but that's not gonna work well without serious work (n/a 5SGE)... -------------------- "It's ok to be naked girl... I've read somewhere that 5sfe bottom is preffered over 3sgte bottom not only coz its bigger but mainly because 5s did not have a that block cracking issue between 2nd and 3rd cylinder

im personally surprised more gt owners swap instead of going 5sgte route. ats racing seems to have favor torwards the 2.2l for some of their builds and higher power cars.

well a customer is comming in next week to get a swap done to his mr2... so Im keeping bottom end... I can get a 3s head for next to nothing... But im not sure what to do this is... maybe another 6gc.. Im kind of leaning toward a fast solara but who knows....

I had to pull the head to check why my oil press is so low it looks all good but scine the head is off im gonna put a TRD 1mm steel H/G & A.E.M.TRU TIME cam gears

Personally, I like having a larger displacement. Just 2 words of caution on using the 5S block. Mainly focused on those of you without large sums of money floating around. If you're going to be spending 20k in your engine, these are both moot.... 1-It has no oil squirters. Not the end of the world. Manny is putting some nice power down without them. Others are as well. And yes they can be machined to accept them. But that's a good bit of time and money. It's not "easy" as someone stated....... Just one more aspect of reliability, as far as I'm concerned.... 2-If you plan on running the stock bottom end, the rod:stroke isn't too good for the higher RPMs the G head can sustain. Nor are the rods/pistons/rings designed for those higher rpms. --------------------  |
